❤️ Messages like this really do mean a lot.

I started O’Briens Painting and Decorating just 4 years ago, completely from scratch, with no real idea where it would take me.

So when a customer takes time out of their day to message me like this, completely out of the blue, it genuinely makes my day.

I put a huge amount of care, pride and attention to detail into every job, always doing it to the very best of my ability.

Comments like this just prove that doing things properly and genuinely caring about your work goes a long way.

Very proud of what I’ve built over the last 4 years — and incredibly grateful to every customer who puts their trust in me. ❤️

Receiving reviews like this is exactly why I love what I do.

I’d like to say a huge thank you for taking the time to leave such a kind and thoughtful review. It honestly means a great deal to me.

It’s a privilege whenever a customer trusts me not only with their decorating project but also welcomes me into their home. I never take that trust for granted, and I always aim to treat every property with the same care and respect as if it were my own.

This cottage certainly had its challenges, but seeing the transformation and knowing you’re so happy with the finished result makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Thank you once again for your trust, your hospitality, and your recommendation. Support like this helps small local businesses like mine more than you know, and I’m truly grateful.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding service from Rightway Scaffolding!

I honestly can’t recommend the team at Rightway Scaffolding highly enough.

They recently put up scaffolding for me on a job in Shaldon, which was certainly not the easiest of jobs! With difficult access and some really tricky areas to work around, getting the scaffolding erected safely and effectively was a challenge — but the team worked their magic.

They were professional, incredibly helpful and clearly knew exactly what they were doing. They came up with solutions to make the access work, and the finished scaffold gave me exactly what I needed to safely carry out the work.

It made a potentially very difficult job so much easier and was a massive help in getting the project completed to the standard I wanted.

A brilliant team, great service and nothing seemed too much trouble. I wouldn’t hesitate to use Rightway again and would happily recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable scaffolding company.

I’ve also asked them to erect a further job in Teignmouth which requires a road licence and once again tricky access. I’m sure it won’t be too much trouble.

Thanks again, lads — absolutely top job! 👏🏻

After spending the last few weeks working on this stunning holiday cottage, I’m delighted to say it’s finished!

My lovely customers chose me after reading my reviews, and I’m incredibly grateful they trusted me with both the interior and exterior of their beautiful home.

As with many older properties, preparation was everything. Inside there were flaking walls and ceilings, plenty of machine sanding, careful filling and repairs, all while preserving the character and charm of the cottage.

Outside, I repaired and restored badly flaking fascias and gutters before giving them a fresh new finish, and I also took on the challenge of bringing the original timber window frames back to life. They were in a very poor state, but after many hours of sanding, repairing and filling, I’m really proud of how they’ve turned out. Saving the original timber rather than replacing it with uPVC felt like the right thing to do for a property of this age.

I genuinely loved working on this project. Seeing older properties brought back to life is one of the most rewarding parts of the job.

A huge thank you to my fantastic customers for trusting me with your home. I’m so pleased you’re happy with the finished result.

If you’re looking for a decorator who takes pride in the preparation just as much as the finish, I’d love to hear from you.

A few days this week were spent giving another lovely returning customer’s home a little freshen-up. 😊

We stuck with the same colours as before, but while I was there I also gave the front door a well-deserved makeover to bring it back to life and finish everything off nicely.

Having customers come back to me time and time again really does mean a lot. It tells me I’m doing something right, and I’m incredibly grateful for the trust people continue to place in me. Repeat customers and recommendations are what my business is built on, so thank you for choosing me once again.

I’m so pleased you’re happy with the finished result.

So, I’m thrilled to say that after an incredibly busy first half of the year, and thanks to so many repeat customers (a huge thank you to every one of you!), my diary for 2026 is now pretty much full.

I currently have just one week available at the end of November and the first three weeks of December. Other than that, I’m fully booked for the rest of the year.

My 2027 diary is now open for exterior decorating projects. As always, I don’t take deposits simply to secure a place in the diary. I’ve always built my business on trust, honesty, and complete customer satisfaction, and that’s something I’ll continue to stand by.

If you’re thinking about having work carried out next spring or beyond, please don’t hesitate to get in touch. I’m more than happy to arrange a quote and get you booked in early.

Finally, a massive thank you to everyone who has supported our little family business. Your recommendations, repeat custom, and kind words genuinely mean the world to us.

Have a fantastic summer, stay safe, and I look forward to seeing many of you soon.

Just finished another lovely little job in Dawlish Warren, helping a wonderful family bring their hall, stairs and landing back to life.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there was plenty of preparation involved after the wallpaper had been removed by the customer. My job was to get everything properly prepped and back to the standard it should be before decorating.

I don’t like standing around waiting for filler or paint to dry, so I always try to make the most of that time. While waiting between coats, I painted the ceiling, sharpened up the edges of the grey panelling and primed the skirting boards. They were only small jobs that didn’t take long, but it’s the little extras that make the finished result look even better.

Another happy customer, and to top it all off, the review that came through shortly after I got home genuinely took my breath away. It’s incredibly rewarding when a customer takes the time to write such a thoughtful, detailed and kind review. It really does mean a lot to a small business like mine.

Thank you so much for your business, and for your incredibly kind words. I truly appreciate it, and I’m absolutely thrilled that you’re so happy with the finished result.

This week I’m back in the lovely seaside town of Dawlish Warren, helping another customer bring their hall, stairs and landing back to life after removing wallpaper that left the walls looking a bit worse for wear.

The first job was to sand everything back using the trusty Festool extractor and EQ150 sander to remove as much old residue as possible.

Once the walls were thoroughly cleaned down, I applied a coat of Zinsser Gardz to seal the surface before giving everything a whitewash. This helps highlight every little imperfection, making it much easier to fill and achieve a really smooth finish.

Tomorrow’s plan is to sand everything back, dust down thoroughly, and then get the top coats on—providing there are no surprises waiting for me in the morning!

After that, it’s back to sunny Shaldon to put the finishing touches on the beautiful little cottage I’ve been renovating over the past three to four weeks.

As always, I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who continues to choose me for their decorating projects. Your trust, recommendations and continued support genuinely mean the world to me, and I never take them for granted.

I’d also like to apologise to those of you who have recently got in touch for quotations but who I’ve unfortunately had to turn down. The demand this year has been incredible, and I’m now booked up for pretty much the rest of the year. While I’m sorry I can’t help everyone, I’m hugely grateful that so many people think of me when they need decorating work carried out.

It’s moments like this that make me love my job even more.

The scaffolding has finally come down on this project in Chudleigh, and I couldn’t be happier with the finished result. A big thank you to Brace Scaffolding for another fantastic job.

The customer sent me these photos once the scaffolding was down, along with a lovely message that genuinely made my day.

I’m so pleased you’re happy with the transformation. Enjoy your beautifully refreshed home in the sunshine!

Managed to finish off this little number today in a very sunny and warm Chudleigh. It’s taken a little longer than planned due to the mixed bag of weather we’ve had over the last few weeks, but delighted with the finished result.

Exterior works completed:

* Full jet wash and clean down
* Fungal wash treatment applied
* Any peeling paint treated with Zinsser Peel Stop
* Two coats of Johnstone’s Stormshield applied to restore and protect the exterior
* Zinsser AllCoat used on the sills and step for a durable finish

Interior bedroom refresh:

* Walls stripped back and machine sanded
* Zinsser Gardz applied to provide a sound base prior to filling and painting
* Woodwork finished using the Johnstone’s Aqua Guard system
* Ceiling painted with Johnstone’s Covaplus Brilliant White

The bedroom now feels bright, fresh and modern, while the exterior has had a real lift and has significantly improved the kerb appeal of the property.

As a little extra, I had some paint left over, so I also gave the roadside garden wall a fresh coat at no additional cost for the customer.

Thank you for your business, and I’m really pleased you’re happy with the result.
