The light is fading with shorter days, colder temperatures , wet and windy at times. Though, when that vibrant winter light appears in short bursts, there is beauty . Some would say, the leaves dropping from the trees are another tasks with winter. I’d say, wonderful leaf mould! Bag them up, puncture holes in the bottom of bags, leave for a year and you have the best compost to use in your garden. Why waste this freebie stuff.

Learn the ancient skill of HEDGE LAYING, the most effective management for our native hedgerows. It rejuvenates and keeps them young and vigorous indefinitely, preserving habitats for our threatened wildlife.

Learn to begin managing and rejuvenating your own hedgerows, training will involve a safety briefing, an introduction to the concept and benefits of hedge laying, and practical demonstrations and practice in the skills of hedge laying on a specially selected hedge, on a working farm.

This is a full one day workshop, tea and coffee will be provided, please bring your own lunch and snacks as well as suitable outdoor and protective clothing and footwear. Tools will be provided.

Your trainer for the day is Clive Lyttle of Welig Heritage Crafts Basketry, Chair seating and countryside skills - Clive has been teaching traditional countryside skills including hedge laying and drystone walling for over twenty years.
