DCR Energy Golf Invitational 2019 is this Saturday. 47 golfers taking part at Manor of Groves Golf Club. Some nice trophies up for grabs as well as auction items all for a great cause.

The inaugural DCR Golf Invitational. DCR Energy would like to invite you to The Manor of Groves Golf Club on the 19th October 2019 to take part in our annual golf fund raiser.

This year we are raising money for Children with Cancer UK Charity. The golf and food are complimentary, however we ask that those taking part offer a donation to this great cause.

As well as the sponsorship, we also try and treat our clients & staff to corporate events & team building days, as keen golfers we sponsor the 18th hole at Market Harborough golf club & the 4th at Manor of Groves. In return the clubs offer us complimentary vouchers and we ensure that they are distributed back through our supply chain.

We plan to start a company golf day this year which will be known as the DCR Invitational. The plan, is to bring our members of staff and the respected members of our supply chain together for a yearly meeting away from the pressures of the industry, and at the same time try to raise some money for good causes.
This year we hope to donate the proceeds to Children with cancer UK.

DCR Energy have tried to give a little back during our first year, and one of the stories that caught our eye was that of Talia, a 10-year-old Karate enthusiast with her eyes on future Olympic Glory!

We were made aware of Talia’s situation and were told that unless she received funding to travel and compete then she would struggle to achieve her dreams. After meeting Talia and her dedicated parents, we decided to offer her a sponsorship deal.

The WKF is the only karate governing body to be recognised by the Olympics.

Talia started training alongside her two brothers at the age of 4 and by the time she was 5 she'd won a gold medal in the first ever competition she entered. After this she started going to competitions nearly every weekend and very rarely lost a fight.

In 2017 aged 8, Talia was selected for the English National Championships in Sheffield and was in a category with 40 of the best girls from all over England. She made it into the final and won a national silver medal. That year she attended her first International competition which was hosted in Edinburgh where she won bronze.

2018 was Talia's big year though (so far!). In January she was selected again for the English Nationals, this time held in Leicester and she managed to win the gold which made her Pro Karate Academy's first ever national champion and crowned her the UK’s number 1.

Just when we thought it couldn't get any better she went on to be selected for the British National Championships, 'The Four Nation's', and this included the top fighters from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. She won the gold, becoming the 'British Champion' for her age!

She trains for around 10 hours a week and is now training regularly in Leicester with the England Regional Squad hoping one day to complete in an Olympic games.

Unlike some other competitive sports at this level, karate receives no funding from so we were thrilled when in 2018 'DCR Energy' became Talia's official sponsor.

We can’t put in to words how much this additional funding helped with Talia’s continued success, enabling her to travel the world and enter competitions far and wide.
