Not every loft needs to be modern to become practical storage 👇

A great example of how an older loft space can be transformed into safe, practical storage 👇

For this installation we:
✅ Enlarged the existing loft hatch to accommodate a timber loft ladder
✅ Fully boarded the loft using moisture-resistant boarding installed onto the Loft Leg raised boarding system.
✅ Installed additional insulation throughout
✅ Added LED battery lighting for safer access and visibility

The result is a clean, accessible loft space that’s now safe, usable, and much easier for the homeowner to access.

Most lofts have the space… but not using it properly can cause problems.

This one in Duston, Northampton is a good example 👇

Boarding directly onto the joists would have:
❌ Crushed insulation
❌ Blocked airflow
❌ Risked damage to the ceilings below

So instead, we installed a raised loft system to protect everything underneath while creating safe, usable storage:

📸 Just Completed – A More Complex Loft Than Usual

Most of the lofts we work in use a standard fink truss, but this property had a queen truss roof structure — which creates a more complex layout with additional timber supports running through the loft.

Rather than limiting usable space, we carefully worked around the structure to create:
✅ A safe, usable storage area using the Loft Leg system
✅ Clear walkways between the trusses
✅ Strong, raised boarding to protect insulation
✅ Easy and safe access via new loft ladder and hatch

The result is a clean, practical loft space that works with the structure — not against it.

🏡 Loft Boarding Installation – Pitsford, Northamptonshire

Completed this week in a 300-year-old cottage in Pitsford, Northants — a great example of bringing older loft spaces up to modern, usable standards.

Customer Brief:

The homeowner wanted to remove old loose-laid boarding from one section of the loft, fully board the entire area, and improve the insulation throughout, and install proper lighting for safer access.

Work undertaken:

✅ Removal of existing loose-laid boards
✅ Removal of rigid foam insulation panels
♻️All removed boards and insulation materials carefully cleared from site and responsibly disposed of in accordance with waste regulations
✅ New base layer insulation installed between joists
✅ Existing top layer insulation redistributed evenly across the loft
✅ Loft Leg raised loft boarding system installed to protect insulation and airflow
✅ Mains-wired LED lighting with independentswitch for safe and practical access
