It amazing to see these pollinators seemingly happy & settling into there new Des-Res 😀.

If you look closely, you can see a couple of Bees entering and leaving 💚

"Hartford Lawn & Hedge expand into the Hotel Business"

Yes its true, HL&H have BRANCHED out into the hotel business, with over 20 locations scattered across the local area offering free rooms to the right clientele 🤔

So in the depth of winter when most of our customers gardens have gone into hibernation, what is a business such as ours to do !! Build Hotels 🤔

Well, Hotels of a different kind.

"If You Build It, They Will Come" 🐝
During the dark, wet bleak days of winter we decided to work away in our workshop and create simple but effective Bee Hotels in support of Natural England, ready for this years nesting season 🐝

Some of our amazing customer gardens are perfectly located to support a Bee Hotel and every singe person who was asked was more than happy to support and have a hotel situated in their garden 💚.

The Solitary Bee are among the most effective pollinators in any garden and unlike honeybees, they don't need a hive or colony, or any upkeep. All they need is the right size hole 💚🐝.

These species are docile, rarely sting and will quietly work through everything blooming with in a quarter mile. No honey, no swarming, no drama - Just Pollination 💚

We just love Nature here at HL&H 💚

"Hedge Cutting; A Gentle Reminder"

If your planning on cuttings any hedging or large shrubs this spring please be reminded that you may only have the next few weeks to do so.

Now is a good time to start before the bird nesting season, which runs from 1st March through to the end of July (Natural England)

It is recommended that any works should be done outside of the bird nesting season unless a thorough nesting survey has been carried out to make sure it is clear to do so.

It is an offence to recklessly disturb, damage, destroy or kill certain birds while they are nesting.

Here at HL&H we take our responsibility to Preserve & Protect Wildlife seriously, so if anybody wants any help or advice, please let us know.

Paving Clean & Rejuvenation.

It's been a busy few weeks, in perfect conditions to carry out a few Paving Cleans & Rejuvenations in preparation for the Spring & Summer to come.

At this time of year, when it's mild and damp, Algae spores are multiplying causing certain surfaces to become even more slippy than normal.

In most cases the the immediate visual impact are amazing after carrying out any Paving Clean & Rejuvenation to bring back " The as Good as New" look to any outdoor spaces.
For some, it's the safety aspect of addressing and treating the slippy organic growth that Power Washing alone cannot achieve.

For whatever reason you choose to have your Paving Rejuvenated, the end results are alway amazing 👍

Our Procedure;
- Clean off all loose debris ✅
- Swill down with clean water ✅
- Apply a application of our Anti Algae, Fungal, Lichen & Moss cleaning solution for longer lasting effects that power washings alone cannot achieve ✅
- Light abrasive power wash & deep clean ✅

I don't care what anyone says but here at HL&H the first day of February marks the first day of our gardening year and the first day of spring.

I know we can still get some real bad weather, but come on, let's be positive;
Evenings are getting lighter, the birds are singing, seeds are on the shelves in the Garden Centre. Snow drops are blossoming, Daffodils are bursting, plus its the start of the spring Internationals (6 Nations) 😁

I Just Love Spring 😁.

Here at HL&H we break down our seasons as follows;
Spring - February / March / April / May.
Summer - June / July / August.
Autumn - September / October / November.
Winter - December & January.
