Building Surveyor (with Quantity Surveying Responsibilities)

About the Role
AllBritain Construction is seeking a Building Surveyor to join our team. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical understanding of buildings, an analytical mindset, and the ability to turn on-site information into accurate pricing and project documentation.
You will undertake surveys to diagnose building defects and create repair solutions for masonry structural repairs, insurance-related and local authority projects. You’ll also prepare detailed costings and schedules using Excel or client-based systems, supporting project management from instruction to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct site inspections and surveys to assess building defects and structural issues.
Prepare detailed scopes of work, bills of quantities, and schedules of repairs.
Price works accurately using Microsoft Excel or client pricing systems.
Prepare and issue risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) in line with each project’s scope.
Liaise with contractors, clients, and suppliers to ensure smooth project delivery.
Monitor project progress and costs to ensure financial control.
Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and deadlines.
Prepare final accounts upon completion.
Essential Skills & Attributes
Strong understanding of building principles and construction methodology.
High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail.
Ability to produce accurate scopes, take-offs, and cost schedules.
Knowledge of RAMS preparation and basic health & safety compliance.
Organised, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication skills and professionalism.
Proven record of excellent attendance and punctuality.
Ideal Background
Degree-qualified in Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying, or Construction Management.
OR practical background (including time served) in construction with strong IT and estimating ability.
Experience with insurance-related repairs, reinstatement, or structural work is beneficial.
