How do you complement an innovative extension whilst retaining the project’s character?

This Edwardian home in Harpenden was once a nursery; before being completely renovated as a contemporary and light-filled family home to a design by Emil Eve Architects.

The large open plan extension features three distinct zones, with three sliding door systems creating a connection to the garden.

From the main living room a post-free inward-facing open corner sliding links the indoors space to the sheltered patio. From the central dining area a sliding window complete with window seat was the chosen option and from the kitchen a three-panel set of doors breaks down the boundaries between inside and out.

The sheer versatility of theEDGE2.0 aluminium sliding doors made it the perfect choice for this project and the doors are finished to perfectly match the sandstone brick exterior.

This project won the hugely prestigious RIBA East Award last year, truly showing how innovative and rich in character the finished project is.

Unlocking the stunning views on a listed property

This Grade II listed home in Woodbridge enjoys incredible elevated views down to the River Deben and has been painstakingly restored and renovated to create an amazing family home.

Designed in the 1930s by pioneering architect Hilda Mason as her own home, the International Style house has been updated by the new owners in a sensitive manner that does not detract from the original design.

The single storey wing extension features theEDGE2.0 sliding doors and frameless glass-to-glass corner windows which perfectly frame the views over the countryside and river.

The end result is a home that is in keeping with its original inspiration, but now features contemporary finishing touches that allow the house to feel more connected with the stunning outdoors.

How do you go about lifting over 150kg of glass in the tricky conditions on a busy building site?

As they do on hundreds of projects each year, our fitters worked closely with the team from Compact Crane Services to unload and lift glass on this site, including the huge triple glazed units that help make the SF80 such a high performance sliding door system.

We love the collaboration between teams and cannot wait to see how this project will look once completed.

A little look behind the scenes on this stunning Grocott and Murfit Ltd. project in rural Norfolk.

The project utilises the new triple glazed, ultra-high-performance SF80 aluminium sliding doors, which combine stunning 30mm frames with incredible Passivhaus levels of thermal efficiency performance.

Also included are multiple installations of theVISION, our hugely versatile aluminium window system, in tilt & turn, top hung and fixed frame configurations, whilst the finished home will also feature a 6-part frameless glass balustrade on the master bedrooms balcony.

Our vastly experienced fitting teams worked closely with the main contractor over the course of last week to move the project forwards and we cannot wait to see what this incredible house will look like when it is finished!

Surrounded by rolling Suffolk countryside, this historic mill has been given a new lease of life thanks to a large single storey extension that features wide expanses of glazing.

At the end of the pitched roof a glazed gable is designed so that the joints in the glass perfectly line up with the frames of the doors below, whilst the narrow profiles of theEDGE2.0 are perfect for making the most of the views out.

The end result is an extension that is both stylish and modern, whilst also remaining sensitive to the existing structure of the mill, and creates a bright, flexible and spacious vaulted family space.

Utilising multiple systems on a single project can produce the most stunning and modern results.

Built on a tight garden plot in Kentish Town in London, this compact home features vistaline slide and turn doors that are integrated with a glass-to-glass corner window, allowing for a truly panoramic view out.

With no windows permitted on the opposite side of the house as a planning constraint, capturing as much natural light as possible was crucial and three flat rooflights flood the living spaces with pockets of light.

The end result is a stylish solution to a complex design challenge, one that makes the absolute most of the space, and light, that is available.

This little Victorian terraced home in East London has been given a complete renovation as the owners aimed to bring more space and light to the house.

Undertaking most of the work themselves, they were able to transform the compact living space by adding a rear extension that completely transformed the ground floor of the property.

To connect the extension with the garden, they chose SF75eco bifold doors with a low-threshold track and now their living space extends out onto the patio.

This self-build project was designed by Whitworth Architects whose plans transformed a modest bungalow into a stunning contemporary home.

The rear elevation incorporates four large sets of theEDGE2.0 sliding doors, contrasting against the timber cladding perfectly. A large roof lantern also helps to pull light into the stunning open-plan living space, creating a bright, modern space for the whole family to enjoy.

Combined with aluminium windows and a glass balustrade on the balcony, the doors allow the property to enjoy stunning views over the fields and seamlessly connect inside and out.
