A while back I boxed up a boiler and added some much needed storage to cover up some unsightly pipe work and floor holes.

This bespoke back door is quite old and had completely degraded from moisture getting into the paint finish and causing the wood to rot.
My client preferred not to replace the doors so I was tasked with repairing and prepping the door.
I cut back the rotting wood until it was stable enough to attach new pieces of wood with lap joins to remake the bottom third of the doors. This included replacing the bottom cross timber with traditional Mortis and tenon joins and fitting a Sapele rainguard.
After some gluing and planing the door was feeling much more stable and I sanded and primed it ready for a coat of exterior paint. This should last another 10-15 years!

An understairs cupboard in a lovely family home in West Brigford.

The client wanted the old door blocking up and a new door creating under the stairs. They also wanted as many shelves as I could fit in the space so I maximised the space with loads of shelves ready for many little and big shoes. 😄
The door was constructed from poplar, a Hardwood timber that is renowned for its strong but very lightweight properties, perfect for doors!
It was then fronted with tongue and groove boards to match the surrounding wall.
A joy to work on such a gorgeous home.
