🎄 Christmas & New Year Update from Howter Automation 🎄

As another year comes to an end, we just want to take a moment to say a massive thank you to every customer who has supported us throughout 2025. Whether it was a new installation, a repair, a service, or simply recommending us to others — it genuinely means more than you know.

We’ll be closing for Christmas from
📅 Friday 19th December 2025
and reopening on
📅 Monday 5th January 2026.

This short break will give us some much-needed time to recharge, so we can come back in the New Year refreshed, focused, and ready to go ⚡️

Although we’re closed, we’ll still be available for emergency call-outs should anything urgent arise during this period.

🚧 ROGER R21 Underground Motor Replacement 🚧
Another job completed and another customer left feeling secure and stress-free!

On our initial call-out, we found the existing ROGER R21 motor completely waterlogged and full of an ant nest. The water had made its way into the motor, causing it to trip and fail completely.

We returned with a brand-new ROGER TECHNOLOGY R21/351. Once the old motor was removed, we gave the foundation case a full clean and quickly discovered the drainage was completely blocked—likely due to the system never having been serviced. We cleared the drain and tested it by pouring water into the foundation to make sure everything flowed away properly. 💧✔️

Although we strongly prefer electrical connections to be outside the foundation case, the original install had all wiring inside a galvanised box with very little gel/resin seal. To keep things safe and reliable, we remade all connections using a new galvanised box and packed it fully with water-resistant gel seal for maximum protection.

With everything cleaned, sealed, and prepared, we installed the new motor, carried out full testing and commissioning, then finished up with a final clean and a coat of water-repellent spray on the casing.

🔧 Result: A fully functioning gate system, improved drainage, protected electrics, and a very happy customer!

🚪 Hormann Speed Door Repair Completed! ⚙️

Last week we were contacted by a local car dealership whose Hormann speed door had completely failed and refused to operate. After carrying out our investigations, we found two faulty devices and discovered that an impact had damaged one of the cables.

Today we returned with all the necessary parts and carried out the full repair. Once completed, everything was tested and the speed door was left working perfectly again! 🙌

We finished the job with a comprehensive service, which included cleaning all sensors, lubricating all moving parts, and checking every fixing to make sure everything was in top condition.

What’s impressive is that all the equipment dated back to 2007, including the parts that needed replacing — a real testament to the quality and longevity of Hormann’s products.

Our customer was absolutely over the moon with the results and the cost savings achieved by choosing Howter Automation.

🎥 On to the finished result!
We’ve just completed the automation of this classic wooden five-bar farm gate we previously posted. We used Roger Technology automation equipment to ensure reliability.

To make sure everything was safe and compliant, we:
✅ Lowered the gate so the gap underneath was under 100mm, removing the need for horizontal safety edges.
✅ Installed A*O Leading Edge and A*O Hinge Edge.
✅ Fitted Gateline photocells and Setback photocells on a custom wooden post.
✅ Added a maglock to keep the gate securely closed and reduce strain on the motor, especially important in this windy area.

The result? A safe, reliable, and secure gate that blends perfectly into its surroundings – and another very happy customer! 🌟
