BNG rules have changed 🌿🏡
The Biodiversity Net Gain rules in England changed on 6 August 2026, with a new exemption for many smaller developments on sites of 0.2 hectares (2,000m²) or less.
The previous specific exemption for self-build and custom-build homes has also been removed, although many smaller self-build projects may still qualify under the new 0.2 hectare exemption.
