An exciting announcement from our Managing Director, Andy Whelan:

After more than 40 years in business, I’m incredibly proud to share the next chapter for AS Sports. Today, 20 October 2026, we’re officially joining Sportex Group.

This is a decision I’ve thought long and hard about, and one I feel confident is right for the future of the business. Having admired Sportex for several years and worked alongside them over the last three, I’ve seen first-hand that we share the same values when it comes to quality, professionalism and looking after our customers. For me, that makes this a really good fit.

So, what does this mean for our customers and our team? In short, it’s business as usual. I’ll be staying on to lead AS Sports for the next three years, and our fantastic team will remain in place. The only exception is my wife, Hayley, who will be stepping down following the acquisition to enjoy a very well deserved retirement. After everything she’s contributed to the business over the years, I couldn’t be happier for her.

AS Sports has always been much more than a business to me. As a family run company, we’ve built something special over more than four decades, and I’m incredibly proud of the people, relationships and reputation behind it. Our customers can continue to expect the same personal, thoughtful service they know us for.

What’s exciting is that, by joining Sportex, we’ll have access to a much broader range of expertise and support across the full lifecycle of sports surfaces, from installation and maintenance through to end of life solutions. That creates new opportunities for us and, importantly, for our customers too.

I’m looking forward to leading the business through this next chapter and seeing AS Sports continue to grow and thrive, while building on everything we’ve worked so hard to achieve.

Thank you to our customers, our team and everyone who has been part of the journey so far.

Your support has meant a great deal to us, and I’m excited about what comes next.
