Lawson Modelmakers have been involved with the forthcoming Type 26 Global Combat Ship program almost since inception. In that time, we have made multiple models in varying scales for a variety of clients. We have also made models of the Canadian and Australian variants now in build.

Recently the forward section of HMS Glasgow – first of type, were rolled out of the Ship Block Outfit Hall in Govan shipyard. Image 5 shows the forward section as well as the aft section of the second ship HMS Cardiff. Just visible under the sealed scaffolding is the aft section of Glasgow which is due to be rolled out in the coming weeks.

Following the roll-out of the aft section, two sections will be joined on the hardstanding before she is floated off and towed down the Clyde to the Scotstoun yard, probably in early 2022. The fitting out phase will be followed by the test and commissioning phase, she is due to be handed over to RN in 2025 and fully operational in 2027.
