We love looking back at our projects and seeing how much a property has changed.

Our clients wanted a home that gave them more space to enjoy together, with extra room for everyday life, a comfortable master suite, and versatile spaces where they could relax or entertain guests.

We did this by adding a two-storey side extension, rear extension and garage conversion, creating the perfect home for our clients in the countryside.

🎙️ We were on BBC Radio Essex talking about overheating homes!

Earlier this week, our Senior Architect, Dandi Passerini, joined BBC Radio Essex to discuss how house design needs to adapt to climate change - from better ventilation and insulation to shading, glazing and renewable energy.

Dandi also shared some simple ways we can help keep existing homes cooler, including ventilating when the outside air is cooler and keeping direct sunlight off windows.

With the Future Homes Standard coming into force in March 2027, designing homes that are comfortable, energy efficient and better prepared for future temperatures is becoming increasingly important.

Check out the progress being made at our change of use project in Mountnessing. Work is well underway to convert this property into a children's day care centre.

The proposal includes extensions to support the building's new use, with the layout carefully designed to improve access, make the best use of the space, and ensure it works well for everyone who uses it, while fitting in with its surroundings.

Are you struggling to keep your home cool this summer?☀

Recently there's been a lot of discussion about whether homes in the UK are ready for a changing climate. A new House of Commons report has highlighted the growing issue of overheating in UK homes, and the Government is looking at how building regulations can help new homes stay cooler in the future.

For us at MP Chartered Architects, it's something we think about for all of our projects.

Things like natural ventilation, solar shading, high-performance glazing and good insulation can all make a real difference. Also, the orientation of windows, along with their size and positioning, are important design considerations that an experienced architect can include in the design to help future-proof homes against rising temperatures and heatwaves.
