A new cost for residential development to be aware of.

The Building Safety Levy has now come into force in England, applying to certain new residential developments from 1 October 2026.

The levy is designed to help fund the remediation of building safety defects. It generally applies to developments creating 10 or more new homes, with smaller developments exempt.

For developers, it’s another cost to factor in when planning a project, alongside planning, construction and other development costs.

It’s worth understanding how the levy could affect your project early on, particularly when looking at viability.

Planning permission secured in Waltham Abbey! 🎉

This Green Belt extension project is going to give our clients much more space without having to move.

The plans include a two-storey side extension, single-storey rear extension, front extension and loft conversion, creating the perfect seven bedroom family home.

The new layout will include a large open-plan kitchen, living and dining space, utility room, separate living room, gym, playroom, study and three new bedrooms, including a spacious master bedroom.
