I have been given some oak kitchen worktop to repurpose and thought about creating a pair of three leg side tables. The wood isn’t what you call prime grade and it is very obvious where the blocks of oak were joined to form the kitchen worktop. However, the prototype tables are shown in various states of construction and I needed to test the design on cheaper materials.
I decided to make a tapering jig built around the sliding table on my table saw. It’s simple and works great for legs around 60cm long.
The through mortise joints have been wedged. Just the tenons to trim flush and a coat or two of finish to apply.
As there are obvious flaws in the wood the tables won’t be offered up for sale, I’ll use them as bedside tables.
The approximate dimensions are 30cm diameter table top, 60cm table height.

A rustic farm shop, tearoom, gift loft and country store housed in a 16th century barn in West Lancashire
