Works have now successfully completed at The Skipton Academy, ready for the return of staff and students for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

As part of the project, our team has successfully installed 206m of BodPave access road through the playing fields, providing access to the Northern Parking Area.

A massive well done to the MJL team on this one. The lads set themselves weekly targets and delivered them, despite a few challenging rainy days over the last couple of weeks! 👏

A big thank you also to our local supply chain for their continued support with materials and waste removal throughout the works.

🌱 Now we just need the grass to establish and, before long, you’ll barely know we’ve been there!

☀️ TIME TO RECHARGE THE BATTERIES 🇬🇷

As myself and Vic take a well-earned summer break in Rhodes, Greece, with family and friends, our teams back home continue to be hard at it, delivering the quality of work we pride ourselves on at MJL.

Running a business can make it difficult to ever fully switch off — the phone is never too far away! 📱 But taking some time out to spend with family and friends, recharge the batteries and enjoy a change of scenery is an absolute must.

Rhodes is a beautiful island with some incredible places to see, and it makes the break even more enjoyable knowing that our teams back home continue to deliver, day in and day out. A massive thank you to everyone at MJL for keeping things moving and maintaining the standards our clients expect. 👏🏼

We’ll be back soon, rested, recharged and 110% ready to go for what is shaping up to be an exceptionally busy and exciting few months ahead! 💪🏼🧡

🚧 S38 & S104 Completion – Wakefield 🚧

Another successful project completed in Wakefield for our valued client, Advance Two Ltd.

Our works included:
✅ Drainage repairs and deep excavations
✅ Resetting block-paved hard margins
✅ Resurfacing of footways and carriageways

All works were carried out under the close supervision of Wakefield Council, ensuring the highest standards were maintained throughout.

A huge well done to our team for their hard work and professionalism. We’d also like to thank our supplier for their excellent support last week, helping us complete a particularly challenging pipe repair that required a 2.5m deep excavation in the middle of the road.

Great teamwork, a great result, and another project delivered safely and successfully. 👏

🚧 PROJECT PROGRESS UPDATE 🚧

Works are progressing well on our highway remedial works project in Skipton, with another busy week on site.

Our team has successfully completed the replacement of a number of replacement kerbs and crossings and has begun installing a range of traffic calming measures, including block paved rumble strips, tabletop ramps and tactile pedestrian crossings in line with the Local Authority and Highway requirements.

Alongside these works, we’re continuing to adjust and raise ironwork in preparation for our client’s upcoming carriageway and footpath resurfacing programme.

This project marks our first scheme for this client, and we’re proud to be delivering another high-quality package of works. We’re also looking forward to commencing two further local developments in August as our relationship continues to grow.

🚧 NEW PROJECT COMMENCEMENT 🚧

We’re delighted to announce the commencement of works for a new client at The Skipton Academy.

This project demonstrates our commitment to supporting the local economy, with local labour, locally hired plant and equipment, and materials sourced from local suppliers wherever possible.

Our works include:

🅿️ Refreshing and remarking two existing car parks with new white and yellow lining.
🗑️ Removal of a failed plastic grid access road.
🛣️ Construction of a brand-new free-draining access road using the innovative BodPave85 system – a durable, permeable paving solution manufactured from 100% recycled plastic.

The programme is well underway, with all works scheduled for completion ahead of the new academic year in September, ensuring the facilities are ready for staff, students and visitors.

Another successful project completed! 👷‍♂️✅

Our team recently completed a new concrete slab installation for a client in Bradford, creating an additional storage area for important materials at their chemical site.

The area was heavily overgrown and covered a deep chamber. Our team first cleared the vegetation, removed tree stumps, prepared the area, raised a chamber cover and then shuttered and poured the new slab.

The project was completed ahead of schedule, and we were delighted to receive some fantastic feedback from our client’s customer:

“It’s great to have a civils contractor that we don’t need to follow around and who respect and follow our stringent PPE expectations.”

Comments like this make all the hard work worthwhile. A huge well done to the team for another safe, professional, and efficient job! 👏

We’re delighted to announce that MJL has agreed to extend our partnership with Skipton Town AFC as the club’s main sponsor for a further two seasons! 💛🖤

We’re incredibly proud of our association with the club and are excited to continue supporting their ambitions both on and off the pitch.

As part of the new agreement, MJL will continue to assist and invest in improvements at the MJL Stadium, helping to enhance the facilities and support the club’s vision of making it one of the best football venues in the area.

We’re looking forward to working closely with Daile, Club Chairman Clive, First Team Manager Kyle, Seconds Manager Will, Club Captain Miles, all the players & everyone involved at Skipton Town AFC over the next two seasons.

☀️ Great weather for groundworks… but not so great when you’re laying 15 tonnes of tarmac in the heat! 🥵

Despite the temperatures, our team has been hard at work surfacing two local projects yesterday.

📍 Rawdon – We completed the surfacing works on a project that involved removing a section of verge and plantation to widen the carriageway due to a failing boundary stone wall. The existing edgings were failing and required new edgings repositioned inwards to prevent vehicular loading the wall edge, the entrance was widened, and the entire area was resurfaced to provide a durable, high-quality finish.

🏡 Skipton – From there, the team headed straight to one of our domestic projects to complete a new driveway before finishing the day on our residential development, surfacing around ironwork covers to protect them from vehicular damage.

Another long, hot day, but the quality and commitment from the team never drops. A huge thank you to every one of the lads for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication. 👏

What a great day yesterday at the Annual Kicking for Cause Inter Business Football Tournament at Skipton. A great day arranged by Holt Doctors raising money for and Skipton Community Sports Hub. Although we didn’t do that well on the pitch, it was great to all get together and have a good drink after, before returning to what we are good at on Monday 💪🏼
