We are currently receiving a lot of calls regarding Bumblebees, but we don’t do bees!
Bumblebees are threatened by habitat loss, climate change, and the use of agricultural pesticides.
The species also departs from the nest after around a month and does not reuse the nest.
If you find a bumblebee colony, the best practice is to leave it alone.

Finding evidence of pests?
It may be time to call in the experts!
A pest is any organism like an insect, rodent or w**d, defined by its harmful or unwanted impact on us, or our environment.
A common impact of a rodent infestation includes property damage: rats and mice may compromise the structural integrity of your buildings, chew through water pipes, wiring and damage soft materials.

At this stage of the year (late spring), an active wasp nest is a small, lightweight structure around the size of a golf ball. Because the season is still early, the nest has either been built entirely by a single queen wasp or is just beginning to be expanded by her first batch of worker larvae.
Now’s the time to deal with these nests if situated inside your property, otherwise what are you waiting for - nests present an increased risk as the season progresses and numbers increase, and potentially become more difficult/expensive too!

Take a look at this Spring drama captured yesterday in Otley!
Bumblebees can be seen servicing their nest in a bird box whilst a queen wasp tries to chew wood from the entrance to use to make her own nest elsewhere.
Bumblebee are a threatened insect species which will move on after a few weeks, and never reuse the nest.
We do not do bee treatments.
Wasps are also a beneficial species, and should be left alone where possible, however if you have any concerns about a nest situated on, or close to your property, please don’t hesitate to call.

One of Rats many superpowers is their ability to gnaw!
Their teeth, with a hardness of 5.5 on the Mohs scale, can damage wood, plastic, electrical wiring, and, in some cases, light metal.
Rats bite power can reach as high as 6,000psi (pounds per square inch) on their teeth tips!
Rats can gnaw at a rate of roughly 1.5 to 6 times per second using a scraping or sawing action, utilizing self-sharpening upper and lower incisors.
They use their teeth to create transit routes, access food and defend themselves!
Have you found gnawing damage at your place?

Should you fear spiders in the UK!?
Short answer - NO! There are no native spiders in Britain that are dangerous to humans - they are beneficial creatures that eat actual insect pests. While some, like the noble false widow famously can bite, bites are rare, non-lethal, and usually no worse than a bee sting.
It is for these reasons that we currently do not offer spider treatments.
But what should you do if you find a Spider?
Instead of killing them, try catching them using a glass and a piece of card, or if necessary, your vacuum cleaner, and release them outside, as they are an essential part of the ecosystem.
