Edit Landscape Design

Edit Landscape Design Landscape & Garden Designer based in Oxford So when you need more than just me, I’ll know exactly who to bring on board.

I design schemes that tread lightly on the landscape, embed and enhance existing or new buildings in the landscape, with planting that is both functional and beautiful, low input and high impact. Problem solving is at the heart of my process – how to minimise the financial and environmental costs of a project, how to create a manageable garden for you to enjoy, how to see the wood for the trees…So

lutions from the simple to the radical to enrich your project. I’m there from start to end on every project, and over the years I’ve got to know some lovely and brilliant people – architects, gardeners, makers, crafters and landscapers. Every project is a story in the making, and I would love to be a part of yours.

We were honoured to receive the Sustainability & Biodiversity in Landscaping award with at the APL Awards last Friday for our Chalet Garden in Radnage.

This is the second garden we’ve created for this client. Over time, the brief has shifted - from more conventional expectations towards a more ecologically grounded approach.

Working with J&S Scapes, we rethought how water moves through the space. Rather than directing runoff into drains, it is slowed and held within the garden - through a rain garden, rill, wetland planting and wildlife pond.

What was once a concrete driveway and lawn is now a garden to sit within, and to move through across the seasons.

A reminder that these projects are rarely about a single idea. but about an ongoing conversation between client, designer and contractor.

If you’re considering your own project this year, we are taking on a small number of projects for Spring/Summer.

Great talk by the finale of the winter lectures hosted by

Fergus extolled the creative ecology at a place that is colourful, dynamic, dramatic, full of non-native plants, and ‘gardened’.

In depth ecology audits reveal a garden that is full of COMPLEXITY and DIVERSITY, more so than the surrounding countryside & even local nature reserves.

Perhaps not a surprise to us gardeners, but an important measure of the role we and our gardens can play in supporting the web of life, providing food, water & shelter, with the right level of thoughtful design & management (EDITING) working with nature.

We have been talking about this for decades but why does it feel that the conversations are still not heard at policy level? When private ‘vegetated gardens’ are deemed of little to no value for biodiversity net gain metrics.

There has certainly been a noticeable shift in how people relate to their outdoor space and value the connection to nature in recent years.

So maybe it is up to us to bring about sea change, and a generational shift of gardeners and teachers to imbue better practices and radical approaches to support nature in our back yard.

Gardens as MOSAIC HABITAT.

Thanks to for the ticket!

Delighted that our Radnage project, expertly implemented by , has been shortlisted in the Sustainability and Biodiversity category at the APL Awards 2026 . Looking forward to joining the team in March at the awards ceremony.

I’ve been collaborating with J&S Scapes for over 15 years, and we still share the same enthusiasm for working on interesting projects and exploring fresh ideas.

Being shortlisted in this category is an important recognition of our core values, Simple, Radical, Sustainable, and reflects our commitment to working in a way that minimises environmental impact while enhancing the spaces we inhabit for nature, one garden at a time.

This approach has been increasingly embraced by designers in recent years and is now more often actively sought out by clients, a joyful movement in our nature depleted land.
