Light fittings installed by our team for a regular client of ours in Tunbridge Wells. We had to hire in a tower scaffold for the first light due to access difficulties. Erecting the tower without whacking the light or dinking any walls was a challenge but it was a successful one.

Today was our featured presentation at Trusted Referrals Networking group. This clip is showing fellow members of the group the standards which we have set within our company by sending automated feedback forms to our clients, to ensure that all of us are providing a service our clients are happy with, or worst case, where we can improve. We would post the whole 10 minutes but people will struggle to listen to my boring voice for 2 minutes, let alone 10. I’ve been attending networking meetings since I started the business 8 years ago and it’s proved invaluable. I still don’t like public speaking, I’m very easily distracted, forget what I want to say and am fully aware how boring and chavvy my voice is 😂 but it’s good to get out your comfort zone. If you’re interested in attending our friendly group, full of quality businesses, for a free visit, drop me a message.

This video explains the dangers of using plastic socket covers. Items sold as promoting safety when in reality, they’re dangerous. Nationwide stores and online retailers all sell them despite being warned of the risks they pose. If you have them, please throw them away 🙏 we see them in schools, nursery’s and peoples homes and always warn of the risks. Feel free to tag someone who has or works with children, spread the word of the risks these things pose.

This week we completed the wiring of 8 bedrooms at a boarding school as well as emergency lighting in the corridor on behalf of SLB Carpentry & Build well before the deadline date. We’ve labelled every socket and light fitting so that any future maintenance can be carried out efficiently. When we fit lights to finished ceilings, we always wear gloves to prevent any finger marks on the ceiling. Both us and Steve’s team have smashed this one and the maintenance manager was very pleased that he’s gained an extra 10 days to get the furniture in before the school opens back up. Pleasure as always working with SLB.

When you’re thinking about buying a property it’s always worth having an electrical inspection, as you could be buying a property with rubber cables, which will likely need an expensive rewire. Vulcanised Indian Rubber cables were installed up to the 1960s and we do still discover them in properties. For less than £400 it’s worth having what could be the biggest investment of your life, your family home, inspected before purchasing.

When you're getting quotes for a consumer unit, it's important to check if the quotes are for a dual split RCD board or an RCBO board, especially if the electrician hasn't stated it in their quote. RCBO's boards a bit more expensive (usually a couple of hundred pound) but they're the much better option. We have only fitted RCBO boards for years.

When doing any install work we always fit 35mm back boxes to enable clients to upgrade their sockets at a later date. 25mm back boxes that some electricians fit are not deep enough for some brands and styles of sockets, especially when it comes to USB's. We've only ever fitted 35mm back boxes as for an extra couple of minutes chasing out a wall, it prevents disruption in the future for the client and saves them money should they wish to upgrade at any point. If you have electrical work planned, make sure your electrician fits 35mm back boxes, not 25!

Here’s the decking area we lit up the other day when we recorded the video showing how we were going to do it. Clients extremely happy 😁 The 2w up-lights in the decking provide lovely mood lighting by highlighting the stone wall. The spike spot in the small bed lights the steps so the client won’t trip down them when it’s dark. It’s always important to get the balance right between ambience and safety on a garden project!

Another garden job using the client just wanted lighting around this new decking area. Nice days work, shame we got caught in the rain but that’s the joys of the British weather!
