🌿Get those water butts ready!🌿

The heat waves have moved on and made way cooler temperatures and rain.

For some, the rain is a welcome relief, after such a long dry spell. It is a reminder that Autumn is just around the corner.

With the Summers getting hotter and the Winters wetter. More importance is being put on Autumn planting.

“Planting then (Autumn) gives trees and perennials time to establish while soils are moist and rainfall is more reliable” - Leigh Hunt, Principal Horticultural Advisor at the RHS.

By shifting the onus on autumn planting rather than spring, we can support our plants and gardens to cope better with extreme weather.

A garden shouldn’t stop working when the sun goes down. ✨

This is where thoughtful garden design really comes into its own.

Warm architectural lighting, winding pathways, mature planting, places to dine, cook, relax and entertain — all brought together to create a garden that feels completely different after dark.

We don’t just design gardens to look beautiful from the house.

We design them to be experienced.

A quiet evening around the fire.🔥
Dinner outside with friends.
A late-night drink on the terrace.
Or simply looking out across a beautifully illuminated landscape.

Every space has a purpose. 🌿

Every view is considered. And the lighting is designed as part of the garden from the very beginning.

Your garden. Your lifestyle. Designed around you.

🌿Bats are a sign of a green and healthy environment, so creating a garden that's good for bats will also be good for people.🌿

International Bat Night has taken place on the last full weekend of August, since 1997, with more than 30 countries taking part, raising awareness about bat conservation. Many bat species are endangered due to habitat loss so public awareness is crucial.

Bats have an important role to play in our eco-system. They control insect populations, pollinate major plants, and spread seeds to regenerate forests.

An old, tired tennis court — reimagined as a completely new way to enjoy the garden. 🌿

We’ve transformed this forgotten space into a luxury outdoor retreat designed around relaxing, cooking, dining, wildlife and wellbeing.🦋

A place to slow down.
To cook and eat outdoors.
To wander through the planting.
To sit beside the wildlife pond.
And to take in those incredible views across the valley.

For us, great garden design isn’t just about how a space looks — it’s about how it makes you feel and how it connects you with the landscape around you.🌿

From unused tennis court to a garden designed for living.

Wildlife and wellness at its best. 🌱

🌿From tired tennis court to luxury outdoor living.🌿

This Surrey Garden transformation reimagines an underused tennis court as a generous new space for entertaining, relaxing and enjoying the landscape.

At the heart of the design is a bespoke outdoor kitchen, surrounded by carefully considered areas for dining and gathering. Strong architectural lines are softened by planting, while art and sculpture are integrated throughout to give the garden its own character and identity.

The result is a space that feels contemporary and luxurious yet still connected to nature — designed not simply to look beautiful, but to be lived in and enjoyed.

🌿With the Summer heat waves we have been having, the gardens should be asking less of us when it comes to growth. 🌿

We hope that the plants in your garden are showing resilience and are coping, as mother nature takes over.

The seasons teach us how to adapt and observe. As Summers are getting hotter, it may be time to think about planting more drought-tolerant plants.

The rain will return, but before then it’s time to slow down and pause.

🥕Started in 2002, National Allotments Week is an annual initiative that aims to raise awareness of allotments and their role in helping people live healthier lifestyles, grow their food, develop friendships, and strengthen communities.🥕

Allotments are rich in biodiversity, creating green spaces for wildlife and pollinators throughout the country.

Gardening is good for you and allotment gardening offers additional benefits that help to alleviate loneliness and enable people to contribute to society.

There is a growing awareness of the role that gardening plays in improving mental health. Watching a tiny seed grow into a vegetable gives a strong sense of pride and achievement.

🌿Protecting a garden during a heat wave requires smart watering, heavy mulching, and avoiding stressful tasks like pruning or fertilizing. Prioritize watering containers, new plantings, and vegetables early in the morning or late in the evening.🌿

What to water and What not

• Water deeply and less often: Soak the roots thoroughly instead of giving a light daily splash, which encourages deeper, stronger root systems.

• Target the roots: Water the base of the plants rather than the leaves to prevent scorching and reduce water loss from evaporation.

• Apply a thick mulch layer: Add 2 to 3 inches of compost, bark, or grass clippings over the soil to trap moisture and keep the roots cool.

• Forget the lawn: Let established grass go brown; it will bounce right back once regular rain returns

Stay hydrated: Drink plenty of water, wear a hat, use sunscreen, and rest often in the shade.😎

🌿A biodiverse garden contains many different species of plants, with a wide variety of flower types and all-season habitats, which in turn support many different types of micro-organisms, insects, birds and animals.🌿

Once you know what to plant and how to embrace a little mess, you can turn your outdoor space into a thriving biodiversity garden.

You might be surprised who starts showing up!🐌
