Preparation is key

In landscaping, prep work is the foundation of a good finished job. It usually involves clearing vegetation and debris, removing old turf, excavating to the correct levels, improving or grading the ground, installing drainage where needed, compacting the sub-base, and preparing areas for paving, turf, gravel, planting, or other finishes.

Good preparation might not be the most visible part of landscaping, but it’s what helps prevent problems like sinking paving, poor drainage, uneven lawns, and more.

In smaller garden spaces design is key.

A recent garden transformation designed to make the most of the space while adding a real sense of luxury to this three-bedroom semi.

With a new conservatory and bifold doors overlooking the garden, the aim was to create a beautiful, low-maintenance space that could be enjoyed both indoors and out. Raised planters allow the homeowners to enjoy a little planting and fresh flowers without the upkeep of a traditional garden, while the handmade pergola creates a lovely feature point.

A big thanks to for supplying a number of the building materials, including the timber used to create the pergola.

After much persuasion, we finally got the man behind the garden designs and detailing you see on Cornerstone’s Instagram in front of the camera. Paul’s the passion and creative eye behind it all, and he’s stepping well outside his comfort zone to become a little more forward-facing. We’re easing him in gently… but the camera might be here to stay! Ladies and gentlemen, meet Paul. 👏

A lovely testimonial from Gemma and Ryan, whose garden we recently completed at their new-build property.
