We had a fantastic visit to Honister Slate Mine, touring their working mine and workshops and gaining insight into the traditional craftsmanship behind their bespoke slate products.
It was particularly interesting to see the versatility of natural slate in architecture and construction, from roofing slates, walling and flooring, to kitchen worktops and finely crafted interior finishes such as fireplaces and tableware.
It was inspiring to learn how this family-run business has revitalised the mine while preserving its industrial heritage, alongside their ambitious plans for the future.
