The weather is still glorious!

After the last photo the shed was moved into its final position and fixed to the ground.

A new hand rail installed in
This client wanted to be able to get better hold of her hand rail and have it on both sides of the stairs giving more stability whilst going up and down.

Once I remove the old hand rail it became apparent that the newel post at the bottom of the stairs was a badly fitted after thought, and very loose. That was removed and reinstalled securely ensuring both a solid fit and a safer stair case for the client.

Fitting new worktops on an existing kitchen.

The old tops along with some other remedial work at the property needed doing after a leak caused some damage throughout the property.

complete... almost!

The client supplied the sanitary wear on this one and though no fault of their own there have been a couple of issues with some items.

Waiting on a new shower screen to arrive but other than that bathroom is complete and it has been handed over back to the client.

Once they organise the shower screen replacement I'll go back and install it.

Whilst I ofcourse charge for my time at work, this is an example and has been an eye opener for this particular client as to how much work is and can be involved in organizing all the necessary elements of a job, and where those extra fees are going if having those elements taken care of on your behalf.

I got these pliers after mentioned them in one of his older videos.

made for removal of old screws and the like so they should come in very handy for reno work.

Really high build quality, but I'd expect nothing less from the boys of the land of the rising sun. 👍

In old you naturally come across previous work.
Often with the joists suffer some serious abuse being hacked at to run water and waste pipes around the room.
This bathroom wasn't that bad in all fairness but it's still good practice to take the time to infill the previous cut outs to the joists.
The first two will likely make no difference to the structural integrity but in the third image you can see the joist has over one third of its stock removed.
The original joists are and the new infills are old/dry pine, glued and pressure fitted into place.

I think that multitool bales is ready for a change ! 🤣🤙

is calling...

This was an old from a couple of years back.

That porch inviting the afternoon summer sun indoors, and inviting you outdoors in equal measure...
The porch door was a heavy mother!
Sepele and glass and straight out of the 70's.
- Quality!
The whole ground floor had underfloor heating with wood effect porcelain , and split face mosaic tiles around the chimney breast, along with finish on all the interior timber with the exception of that door.

I've been using SigmaUK tools since I first started and they make quality tools and they make them in Europe, in Italy which to me is a big deal.
A snapper and tiger trowel was used on the floor tiles, (and tiles) along with cutting discs and drill bits where needed.

are currently running a competition.
If you're a fellow get involved. 🤙

The old saying being: A good workman never blames his tools.

The old adage being: A good workman always has the right tools.

And so it goes, taking on board the cost, taking the time and putting in the effort for quality workmanship produced with the aid of quality tools.

The wife does sometimes question whether I buy tools to go to work, or work to buy tools but she knows the answer to that just as well as I do...

Now back to that porch and the call of summer..

Whenever I'm doing work in someones home if I happen to be under their floors I inevitably clean out their floor cavities for them.
Some people fill these with rubble waste and even general rubbish which isn't good.
Not the best structurally but just bad chi like as well.

Anyway some times you find hidden treasure like the chisel a couple of posts back and then stuff like this; a time capsule.

Scott Brown Carpentry loves sharing these types of finds so I thought I'd join in on the action!
I dont know the year but it was a Christmas parish news letter from Vicar, Alan Batty.
