John Brindle

John Brindle John Brindle time served, C&J now relaxing in Penzance Cornwall producing hand crafted woodturning.

My name is John Brindle, I'm a time served carpenter and joiner now relaxing in Penzance, Cornwall (mostly in the shed) producing individually hand crafted pieces of wood turning which I show and sell from my page. I started life in Stanhill village Owaldtwistle Lancashire, famous for being the place where James Hargreaves invented the Spinning Jenny which started the industrial revolution. James

had to leave Stanhill village during the Luddite riots of the nineteenth century. I left Stanhill under happier circumstances and moved to Penzance which has another famous son Humphry Davy who invented the Davy safety lamp used by the tin miners of Cornwall and around the world. In 2006 we relocated back to Pauline’s home town of Penzance. I followed generations of my family working in wood, serving my time as a carpenter and joiner in the sixties. More years than I care to think about I still enjoy working with wood making a variety of articles. My products are individually handcrafted using traditional skills to turn, carve and shape the wood and can be purchased from me.
