The existing single sockets were upgraded to double sockets using Click Mode single-to-double converter plates, providing additional outlets without the need for chasing walls or extensive alterations. This meant no SDS drilling, far less noise and dust, and a much quicker installation compared to a traditional socket upgrade—saving both time and money while achieving a neat, professional finish.

I also changed a faulty PIR floodlight for a new Ansell non-PIR LED floodlight, providing the customer with a reliable and straightforward outdoor lighting solution.

The new 18th Edition compliant consumer unit was installed on a fire-resistant backing board, providing a safe, tidy and professional finish while improving accessibility for future operation, inspection and maintenance.

⚡ Consumer Unit Upgrade & Electrical Improvements ⚡

We recently completed a range of electrical upgrades for a customer following the purchase of their new home, helping to modernise the installation and improve functionality throughout the property.

The existing consumer unit was replaced with a new FuseBox consumer unit complete with bidirectional RCBOs and a Type 2 Surge Protection Device (SPD), bringing the installation in line with current 18th Edition requirements and helping to future-proof the property for technologies such as EV charging, solar PV, and battery storage systems.

As part of the consumer unit replacement, all existing circuits were inspected and tested before being safely reconnected and certified. During the process, a number of remedial works were also carried out to improve the overall condition of the installation.

Works completed included:

⚡️Garage Lighting Upgrade – In Progress ⚡️

Another garage lighting project completed by M.Nicholls Electrical

From first fix through to installation, this job was carried out with careful planning to ensure a smooth finish for both the customer and other trades on site.

✔️ Neat and well-routed first fix wiring
✔️ Accurate downlight cut-outs prepared ready for installation
✔️ Downlights intentionally left out to allow easy removal for plastering

Taking this approach ensures the builder/plasterer can work efficiently without obstruction, while protecting the fittings and helping achieve a clean final result.

⚡ SOCKET UPGRADE ⚡

This installation began with a single one-gang socket, which did not provide sufficient access for the customer’s needs.

We upgraded the circuit to three double (two-gang) sockets, all neatly chased into the wall to achieve a clean, flush finish in keeping with a professional standard.

The result is a far more practical and reliable setup, eliminating the need for extension leads while maintaining a tidy appearance throughout.
