This is our recent project in Crieff,the roof itself was done from the start the old wet ridge and wet Verge way.
Unfortunately on this occasion the cement was starting to show signs of deterioration before the life span of the roof tile itself had expired ( 40 years).

So at the moment this roof did not need a full roof replacement, it needed some proper repairs to make sure it now lasts the full duration of the roof tile lifespan.

So we removed all the wet cement ridging and replaced with a dry vented ridge system, this will be maintenance free now for the whole lifespan of the tiled roof.

We have also removed the wet verge and replaced some pvc facia so it’s wide enough to catch the new dry verge units, again all maintenance free.

Sometimes your roof doesn’t need fully replaced, it just needs proper maintenance to give you the full lifespan of the actual roof tile itself.

On this roof in Strathtummmel Perthshire we had to fit permavent easy slate units per slate due to the low pitch.

This is another example of what we can do at JBR Roofing. Lead works and lead welding

On this job the old lead works had cracks and splits from nothing more than old age and had lasted over 100+ years as it was determined with historical records and once we removed it , this was the original lead when the house was built.

When we install all our new lead works, we also install it within the same code of practice so it lasts another 100+ years.

On this project we stripped back all the old lead and replaced any damaged boards, fitted the breather membrane, then fitted new code 8 lead and welded all the sections together no greater than 1500mm long.

We then dress it all into shape,so it’s all neat and tight ,and nail it to the roof under the slate section with copper nails .

To finish we then give it a qoute of patination oil to prevent lead carbonate to run off during the rain and cause unsightly white marks.

The roof was stripped back to the joists and we fitted sarking boards to the full roof and then the VP 400 protec breather membrane

Sarking boards are the proper specific boards to be used in Scotland due to the harsh weather conditions. And open rafters or cheap ply should be avoided if possible.

A recent project we done at a farm near Braco in Perthshire

We stripped the main roof back to the sarking boards and fixed all rotten or damaged wood.
Fitted code 5 lead at all the dormer areas , and VP 400 protec breather membrane to the full roof.
Then completed with Cuppa 3 Spanish slates and 14 inch zinc ridging and heavy duty brackets to protect from the strong winds.

We had to totally rebuild the front porch area as all sarking and some joists were rotten.

We do things correctly and never cut corners, so we can pass on our 10 year warranty with every new roof, that gives you peace of mind that your new roof is going to stand the test of time through the worst of Scottish weather

Another chimney refurbished in Aberfeldy

Unfortunately for the customer these leaks have been left too long and rotted all the joists and sarking boards

We cut out all the old rotten wood and replaced with new treated wood , then covered with breather membrane.

We then went on to compete the new lead works around the chimney with new code 5 lead .

We made the valleys wider to cope better with the high volume of rain we get in the country now.

Finished off the chimney by fitting 2 new pots and 2 vent 120s to let the chimney breathe properly as it had been covered over previously.

A recent job we just finished at nursing home brae Pitlochry

Chimney striped back to brick and side triangle cheeks striped to the framing then ply wood fitted.
Mesh fitted on triangle cheeks and everything all first quoted. Then the finished qoute was Roughcasted with grey granite chip to match the surrounding buildings.

New lead around chimney and also around flat roof where it meets the walls.
White pvc fitted at gable ends, and all rotten wood replaced at the gable under the slates.

New bigger Slates fitted to allow to overhang the new pvc

New chimney coping stone, new pot and a multi fuel chimney cap for a log burner use

This customer has had us several times now due to our quality of service and workmanship.

This roof in Fearnan in Perthshire was completely stripped back to the joists, then we fitted proper wood sarking boards to the full roof , high performance VP 400 protec breather membrane and all new Swedish BSA tile and counter batons.

Finished the roof with charcoal Redland double Roman tiles and a vented dry ridge and dry verge units at the gable ends.

The flat roof was also stripped back to the joists and totally refurbished with new boards and insulation, then finished with a full sheet of Firestone rubber and black pvc trims around the edge.

A full 10 year warranty with the new roof.
And a full 20 year supplier backed warranty with the flat roof.

On this Welsh slated roof, there was major leaks around the dormer area , but it wasn’t necessary for a complete new roof, it just needed some good proper maintenance.

We stripped back the slates around the valley areas , removed the old zinc ridging where needed and also the wooden ridging pole underneath which was all rotten.

We then fitted new ridge pole and zinc ridging, with heavy duty brackets to support in any weather conditions.

Then Fitted new lead valleys , and re-slated the areas back in with matching slates.

You don’t always need a new roof when you discover a leak, you just need a proper professional and honest opinion and quality service.
