Not as refined as but it still split where it was meant too…. 3lb punch hammer and any TC chisel makes light work of this local sandstone.

WIP - 1.450m tall with a vertical cope to be added… from chaos in the foreground to order in the background.

This is short section of a huge project, some 400 odd meters in total, mostly free standing walls. Always fun to be part of such a massive and transformative project.

NEW BUILD DRY STONE WALL - 37.5 linear meters, 3 cheeks, one corner, long sweeping curves on slopes & a straight section of wall on a slope.

Thanks very much to Ben Campbell for having us build the walls on his project - still a lot of work for him to complete, when he’s done it’s going to be a total transformation!

I’m a big fan of the stone we always get up here, it really lends itself to our building style.

Another fun project completed that was right on the roadside, which allowed for a nice chat with some existing clients and meeting some hopeful new ones for next year.

DRY STONE WALL REBUILD 52m

This may well be the longest private client rebuild we have ever done & as grateful as we are for the work, it’s sad to think the original wall was not even that old. The last four pictures show the reason why the wall failed, so much of the stone was laid wrong resulting in a wall with a very short lifespan.

We had some awesome weather on this job and a big shout out to Nathan & Lewis for finishing the build off when I dropped off for a holiday in Portugal.

These jobs always result in A) extra stone needed for copes/builders & B) a huge amount of tidy up and waste (see the bags behind the wall). This wall had about seven builders bags of chips/scraps that were not needed, purely down to the new internal voids being much less than the original wall.

Apr’26 - REBUILD DRYSTONE WALL

(Test of memory) This was 1.8m tall and a good 20+ meters long - the volume of stone on the ground after full strip out was crazy! We literally had packing piles 1m tall.

Nice stone selection though, we muscled in some more big foundations from a pile on the property- gotta get the big lads in at the bottom!

As the wall was so tall we got a double layer of throughs in, and maybe even few third rows too - if you’ve got them use them!

Some snippets of our current project - a mixed bag of stone. Mostly fieldstone, with a healthy dose of reclaimed bits too.

This blend gives the wall a good aesthetic, a proper ‘traditional Scottish country house’ look - whilst a wide foundation and steep batter give it substance.

Have a great weekend everyone & remember folks:

Apr/May’26 - NEW BUILD DRY STONE WALLS, Birnam, Perthshire.
50 odd linear meters built with locally sourced fieldstone.

Another great job recently completed! Very lucky to be part of the project so thanks to those involved with putting us forward.

We don’t often work in built up places - but this was a good experience, lots of lovely folk stopping for a quick chat or to ask about what we were up too.

The whole site was a hive of activity and it’s going to be really cool to come back when everything is complete for a look around.

The owner of is doing a full restoration (inside & out), which is a project of monumental proportions. His positivity and work ethic are both infectious and admirable.

If you’re ever passing Dunkeld/Birnam on a Friday evening or over the weekend drop in for a drink at the pub where we built walls around the patio area! Great little spot!

May’26 - DRY STONE RETAINING WALL REPAIR, Loch Tummel, Perthshire.

Another big retainer built back to previous glory - this was a big wall in a very cared for garden. The gardener has removed everything (plants) that were going to get damaged so we could get stuck in digging out the corrupted foundations.

Wonderful property to work at, an absolute slice of isolated heaven. Very interesting client and it was great chatting with the extremely knowledgeable gardener.

May’26 - DRY STONE RETAINING WALL REBUILD. Aberfeldy, Perthshire.

Big retainer built in the garden of one of our agri clients.

Nice chunky stone and a tremendous amount of back building 💪🏻

Mar/Apr’26 - 45 man days of repairs across 2 farms, one sporting estate and two private properties.

These pics are just a snippet of what we got through, the majority of our repairs are done on estimated day rates and the work remit often grows once we arrive on-site - they are usually done between bigger projects but are equally important to us.

Nothing better than getting stuck into some agri repairs after a few weeks of new build walling.
