🔥 Fire Door Facts Every Property Owner Should Know 🔥

Fire doors are designed to slow the spread of fire and smoke, helping protect escape routes and save lives.

✅ A standard FD30 fire door is built to resist fire for at least 30 minutes. FD60 doors offer 60 minutes of protection.

✅ A fire door only works properly when it is fully closed, wedging it open can seriously reduce protection.

✅ Certified fire doors should include:
• Intumescent seals
• Fire-rated hinges
• Compatible glazing if glass is fitted
• A tested frame and hardware set

✅ In many buildings in England, fire doors must now be regularly checked under fire safety regulations.

✅ Even small gaps matter: a correctly fitted fire door should usually have only a small gap around the frame to perform properly.
