Evaporator iced up after the fridge was running with the doors open. Airflow dropped and the unit couldn’t pull temperature. Always keep the doors closed when the fridge is running, and switch the unit off during loading to prevent this.

This is a moisture indicator sight glass found in transport refrigeration systems.
The colour in the centre shows the system’s condition:

🟢 Green = Dry system — refrigerant and oil are in good condition.
🟡 Yellow = Moisture present — the drier may be saturated or moisture has entered the circuit.

If the sight glass starts turning yellow, it’s a clear sign that the filter-drier should be replaced and the system checked for any possible leaks or moisture ingress. Ignoring it can lead to acid formation, blockages, or compressor damage over time.

âś… Regular inspection of the sight glass helps keep your refrigeration system efficient and reliable.
