Just a wee thank-you notice for all my customers. I have had a few health issues mainly due to some strenuous work i did on my week off so I have basically been off for nearly 3 weeks and have had to re-schedule jobs. I'll get back to my clients later today with alternative dates, thank you all for your patience. Will be starting work tomorrow so I will get around to you all soon.

Here is a 'heads-up' for people considering installing solar panels. At present, any electrical company who installs solar panels, where customers sell electricity back to their supplier, has to be MCS registered. This is something all electricity companies have agreed on. MCS was originally owned by the government but they sold it off a few years ago. This gave MCS a monopoly so that only electrical companies that paid into MCS scheme could enter this market. This effectively closed off this area of work for companies consisting of one or two people, as registration was very expensive with lots of paperwork and audits. However, Octopus Energy have decided that they no longer require MCS certification. They were aware that a lot of people wanted solar panels and that this additional available energy could massively increase the amount of electricity on the grid. This could be achieved only by making solar installations cheaper and thus more accessible for everyone. Octopus Energy, at the moment, are going through a review process and about to undergo some trials with selected electricians, who have registered with them. I have now registered myself with them and made myself available to join the trials.

They are not rejecting MCS organisations but they know that if they are successful, all the other electricity companies will follow suit, effectively killing off MCS..........I will try and keep everyone posted on this matter.

I'm looking for a little feedback, especially EV car owners. I'm pondering on the idea of offering an emergency EV charge service for people who run out of charge mid-journey, enough to get them to the next charger or home if they live nearby. Probably cover the North of Aberdeenshire. It's just something I'm considering but have no idea of any uptake or interest.......looking forward to your comments.

There is a lot of speculation about labour winning the next election. Of course no can be sure but if that happens their latest plans are to shutdown the North Sea oil and gas production. That will mean a lot of unemployment and lots of power cuts as we would be then reliant of power from Europe. Of course I could be 100% wrong and hope I am but my point is that now is the time to get that gas fire or gas stove or whatever will help you when the lights go out. If you have plans at the back of your mind for a little more self reliance then do it now while we have an abundance and the weather is nice and warm. Think about torches, perhaps an emergency light that comes on for a few hours as soon as there is a power cut, a small battery generator like a jackery or something similar that will supply mains power for a period of time for a boiler, tv or lighting and a generator for those who are a little bolder........just a few 'summer' thoughts :-)
