Catching up on last year still! The summer brought me to Jo’s house in Saxon Gate, Ivybridge.

With a heavily sloped dual tier garden and a badly designed bottom tier it needed a rethink and revamp.

Within it I placed a bespoke bin storage and garden storage area, new Kandla grey patio areas, planting beds, pergola section and artificial lawn areas.

With over 20 tonnes dug out and removed by bucket and 26 tonnes of stone coming in to create the levels again moved by bucket it was a trialling job! Overall over 65 tonnes of materials were moved with the majority being by bucket!!!!

Hopefully you’ll all agree the project was worth it!!!

John and Sam from Saxon Gate in Ivybridge contacted me with reference swapping their old uneven slab and stone steps next to their garage and popping in a new set of elongated angled steps to access their rear garden and lawn area.

They also wanted a set of aco drains fitted along the garage to take away the water that constantly affected their garage when it rained. Unfortunately the team of resin installers they’d had in to complete their top patio area had done such a poor job using the wrong materials and sub base meant that this couldn’t be completed until they had rectified their work.

Finished off with a small front lawn area levelled with new sleeper edging and a small extension to the parking area using gravel grids!

Not many progress pictures due to the torrential rain!!!!!

Adam and Becci contacted me to have a look at their new build garden in Filham Chase, Ivybridge.

Left with the usual few slabs, sloping garden with split levels and a baby on the way we worked together to come up with a safer family friendly alternative.

Making use of their love of gardening and the need for safety also we came up with a split level design adding in level planting areas, a beautiful quorn stone patio and a removable picket fence and gate as their family gets older and the need for it diminishes.

Great to be part of a project to enhance their family life and even better to be around and see the joy (and sleepless nights!) as their baby daughter arrived!

Quick fill in job for the next door neighbour who wanted a few planters built alongside the fence I built for him a few months ago.

Just a few stepped block sleeper planters all lined and ready to fill with compost for spring planting!

Happy Easter everyone! Well it’s been manic lately and I thought I’d take advantage of a few days off with the family to update the business page.

As it’s just me completing the work, quoting etc etc I don’t have masses of time to be constantly putting up pictures or jazzy videos or Tik toks….everything is done what I’d term as the ‘old school way’ honest pricing for an honest days work.

Feel free to like and share the projects…pass on my number etc because word of mouth is stronger than a million videos and adverts that go out to the masses!

Have a great family time this Easter and all the best from my family to yours!!!

For the last couple of years we’ve been completing works on our house….the last bit to be done was the front garden.

Living in a street where the railings were taken for the war effort there was no real separation between gardens…that combined with the zany crazy paving left Lisa and I work to do!

New Venetian fencing finished in urban slate on both sides and black limestone paving to the front areas combined with granite chippings gave the wow factor in the end!

Next up….Jackie and Jemma in Ivybridge. They contacted me after a recommendation from elsewhere as they were having a set of patio doors put in the rear of Jackie’s park home.

Popped up for a quick measure and discussed this work and then noticed the steps at the front of the house were all over the place and an absolute trip and fall hazard!

Well as the Spice girls once said ‘2 become 1’! This led to a new Venetian fencing section covering the unsightly front of the steps and a new level framework created to cover in composite deck to create a long lasting structure.

At the rear an extended decking area surrounded by balustrades with steps leading to the rear garden creating a place to enjoy the sun and morning coffee.

As the weather had turned I cracked on with timber work as no slabs were getting laid in the deluge!

Off to Ivybridge next to complete a decking project for Jackie.

A complete rip out of the old rotten 5m x 4m deck and framework lead to a new fully posted framework of 5x2 timber fully nogged and deck taped before fully pressure treated timber boards went down. A new handrail and steps were built to access the lower tier of the garden.

Look out for part two of the garden and the front garden in the next couple of months which I was invited to quote for and design after my work here.

I found it interesting chatting to Jackie and finding out her other quotes. Have a guess what the price from me was and leave it in the comments…..to help the three other quotes were….

£5,060 plus vat not including materials
£5,469 including vat and materials
£3,254.25

Please like and share with your entry!

Closest guess gets a gold star and a bottle of wine!!!

Guess away and feel free to share for all to enter!!!!

Well Phil and his wife from Plymouth contacted me last year after their daughter passed my number on to them needing a new deck built to replace an old decking area and to wrap around a new home extension that had just been finished. I created a new level decked seating area stretching 1.5m wide across the front of the new extension with a new step area leading to an extended decking area.

All framework was completed out of 6x2 treated timber and fully posted at 1m intervals throughout. Framing was covered in Walter strong deck tape with treated deck boards on top and the front and steps clad in featheredge in readiness for planting to be put in front.

Usually there would be before and during pictures but it was soooooo wet….the phone stayed in the pocket!

Thanks as ever to Jewsons and KPT for all materials.

Evening all! Well I’m not the best at updating my business page as truthfully I’m always manic! So I hope you’ve all had a great start to 2026….barring the weather!

This year means great changes for my family and I as we’ve sold our property and are in the process of buying some land to create our dream….more of that to come in the future!

So project wise the weather has been a killer since October really but there’s a few project completed and a few in progress….pics on their way to update you all.

As always feel free to get in touch if I can help you, friends, or family in any way. Hope to catch up with you all soon and feel free to share the page!!!

Well with the delights of today’s rain I thought I’d share a recently finished project. Kate and Steve contacted me to come up with ideas for their family garden on the new Saxon Gate development in Ivybridge. We worked together on a plan creating new patio areas, planting beds and ultimately making use of the garden to its full extent!

A fabulous project to work with them on and complete!!!
