Right. The groundworks are done. The digger is gone. And today it got very exciting on the new garage build in Milehouse. πŸ˜πŸ—οΈπŸ’ͺ
South Hams Tool Station came to collect the digger this morning β€” a brilliant team as always and if you need plant hire in the area you genuinely could not be in better hands. Thank you as always. πŸ™
And then MKM Plymouth rocked up with the materials.
Now if you know you know β€” the moment the materials land on site everything changes. The groundworks stage is behind us. The concrete is in. The footings are solid. And now we have everything we need to start getting this garage up.
This is the stage of any build that we genuinely love. Done with the digging, done with the unknowns, done with what is under the ground surprises β€” and now it is just pure building. Blockwork going up, walls taking shape, and the whole structure starting to come to life in front of your eyes.
This garage is going up and it is going to look absolutely brilliant when it is done.
Big thank you to South Hams Tool Station for the plant hire throughout the groundworks stage β€” outstanding service as always. And to MKM Plymouth for the materials delivery β€” if you want value for money and to feel like a genuinely valued customer when it comes to building materials there is nowhere better. πŸ™
Follow along because from here this build moves fast. Give this a like and share it with someone who loves watching a build come together from the ground up. πŸ‘‡πŸ§‘

Right. I have to be honest with you. I have not been on this particular job for a few weeks. Life has been full on β€” multiple live projects running simultaneously, the cowboy builder rebuild, new garage build, quotes, admin β€” you know how it goes.
But the team? The team have not stopped for a single day. πŸ’ͺ😍
I walked onto the single storey extension and garage job today and genuinely had to take a moment because look at where this build is now.
The garage is up to wallplate. The roof is on the extension. Windows are on order. Insulation has started going in.
A few weeks away and this job has completely transformed. The team have been absolutely flying on this one without me there to oversee a single day of it and what they have delivered is something I could not be prouder of.
This is what building the right team around you actually looks like in practice. People who show up every single day to the same standard whether the boss is there or not. People who take as much pride in the finished result as you do yourself. People who do not need to be watched to do things properly because doing things properly is simply who they are.
Mick, Gareth, Aaron, Harry, Harrison β€” and Jess holding everything together behind the scenes as always β€” this one is yours. Every bit of it. πŸ’ͺ🧑
This job is really coming together now and the next few weeks are going to be incredibly exciting as we push towards the finished result. Follow along because the best updates on this one are still to come.
Give this a like, share it with someone who appreciates quality building work, and follow us so you do not miss a single update. 🧑

This is the moment every build is waiting for. πŸ˜πŸ—οΈπŸ’ͺ
Footings are dug on the new garage build in Milehouse and the concrete is going in.
Now if you have been following this build from day one you will know it has not all been plain sailing to get to this point. Digger through the gate with millimetres to spare β€” nearly. πŸ˜‚ A Thatchers cider crate holding up the gate post. Gareth with his passengers riding shotgun. Massive boulders under the garden wall requiring underpinning. Scorching heat that had the energy levels struggling to keep up.
But through every single one of those challenges the team kept going. Adapted where needed. Sorted every problem the right way. And now here we are.
Concrete going in.
There is something about this moment on any build that just changes everything. The footings are done. The concrete is in. And from this point forward this garage is going nowhere but up. The structure starts from this moment right here and everything that follows is built on what goes in today.
We cannot wait to show you what comes next because from here this build is going to move quickly and it is going to look absolutely brilliant.
Follow along because the best stages of this build are still ahead of us. Give this a like and share it with someone who has been following from day one β€” they will appreciate this moment as much as we do. πŸ‘‡πŸ§‘

This is what real building work looks like. πŸ—οΈπŸ’ͺ
When we started digging out the garden on the new garage build in Milehouse we discovered something that nobody could have predicted until the ground was actually opened up. The garden wall had been built on huge boulders. Not standard footings. Not what you plan for. Massive boulders sitting underneath that wall that changed everything about how we needed to approach the next stage.
The solution? Underpin the wall.
And underpinning means one thing β€” mixing concrete. So the mixer came out and we got on with it.
This is something we always want to be completely honest about with our customers and with anyone who follows our work. Building is unpredictable. You can plan every stage meticulously, survey thoroughly, and prepare for every eventuality you can reasonably foresee. And then the ground opens up and shows you something that no survey in the world could have told you was there.
What matters in that moment is not that the surprise happened. Surprises always happen in building. What matters is how quickly and how correctly you respond to it.
Mixer out. Concrete mixed. Wall underpinned properly. Build progressing. πŸ’ͺ
No drama. No cutting corners. No telling the customer it will probably be fine. Just identifying the problem, finding the right solution, and getting on with it.
That is Weekes Building Solutions. That is what we do every single day on every single job regardless of what the ground decides to throw at us.
Follow along because this build is full of character and we are documenting every single stage of it honestly right here. Give this a like and share it with someone who appreciates a builder who just gets on with it. πŸ‘‡πŸ§‘

Right. Let us talk about today. πŸ˜…πŸ—οΈ
First things first β€” it has been absolutely scorching on site again. The kind of heat that starts manageable and by early afternoon has completely drained every last bit of energy from the entire team. We are not going to pretend otherwise. Hot days on a building site are tough and today was a tough one.
But the heat was not even the main event today.
When we dug out the garage base we found something that nobody particularly wanted to find.
The garden walls have been built on massive boulders. Not standard footings. Not what you would expect to find when you dig down. Massive boulders. Just sitting there doing whatever they pleased beneath those walls for who knows how long.
Now this is the reality of building work that we always talk about honestly with our customers. Until you have dug the ground out you simply do not know what you are dealing with. You can survey. You can plan. You can prepare for every eventuality you can reasonably foresee. And then the ground shows you what it has been hiding and the plan adapts.
What this means for us is that we are now going to have to underpin the walls. It is an unforeseen element of this job β€” nobody could have known it was there before we dug β€” and it is something we are going to have to work through properly and carefully before we can move forward with the build.
It is not the news anyone wants to hear on a scorching hot day when the energy levels are running low. But it is the honest reality of this job and our customer will always get the truth from us no matter what that truth looks like.
We push on. We always push on. πŸ’ͺ
Follow along because this build just got a little more interesting. Give this a like and share it with someone who appreciates honest content from the tools. πŸ‘‡πŸ§‘

Day two wrapped on the new garage build and landscaping job in Milehouse and the progress is already looking seriously good. πŸ˜πŸ—οΈπŸ’ͺ
Here is where we are at the end of day two.
The garage base has been dug out and we are now just waiting on the grab lorry to come and clear the spoil away before we can crack on with the next stage. Walls down. And out on the patio area we have started grading off which is where the Indian sandstone raj blend is going to sit and trust us when we say it is going to look absolutely stunning.
Two days in and this job is already taking real shape. The transformation that is coming on this property is going to be something really special and we are only just getting started.
The grab lorry cannot come quick enough β€” the minute that spoil is cleared we are straight onto the next stage and this build is going to move very quickly from there.
Follow along for day three because this one is moving fast. Give this a like and share it with someone who loves watching a good build come together from the very beginning. πŸ‘‡πŸ§‘

And that is day one wrapped on the new garage build and landscaping job in Milehouse. πŸ—οΈπŸ˜
What a first day it has been. Between the digger arriving with millimetres to spare through the gate β€” and we all know how that ended πŸ˜‚ β€” the Thatchers cider crate gate post discovery, Gareth's fully loaded van with passengers riding shotgun, and some serious progress made on site β€” day one has delivered in every possible way.
The site is tidy. The team have been brilliant. And we are absolutely buzzing about what is coming tomorrow.
Follow along because this build is already shaping up to be a brilliant one and we are only just getting started.

No half measures at Weekes Building Solutions. Absolutely none. πŸ˜‚πŸ—οΈ
The waste wood from the new garage build needed shifting today and Gareth was on collection duty. Now when we say the van was full β€” we need you to understand that full does not even begin to cover it.
Rammed. Packed. Stuffed to the absolute limit of what physics and a Transit van will allow. Every single inch of space accounted for and then some. πŸ˜‚
And Gareth β€” ever the professional β€” was not about to make two trips when one would do. Because that is not how we operate.
So the last couple of bags? Riding shotgun. Right there in the passenger seat next to Gareth like they had somewhere to be. All buckled in. Ready for the off. πŸ˜‚
This is what no half measures actually looks like in practice. Waste cleared. Site tidy. One trip. Job done.
We leave every site clean and tidy and we do it as efficiently as humanly possible β€” even if that occasionally means Gareth has to share his cab with a couple of bags of waste wood. πŸ˜‚
Gareth β€” absolute legend. As always. πŸ’ͺπŸ˜‚
Give this a like and tag someone who would absolutely do the same rather than make two trips. Because we all know that person. πŸ˜‚πŸ‘‡

12/08/2026

Right. Let me tell you about day one of the new garage build. πŸ˜‚πŸ—οΈ
So the digger arrives on site. Beautiful machine. Ready to go. One small matter of getting it through the gate first.
Now this gate β€” tight does not even begin to cover it. We are talking millimetres to spare on either side. The kind of gap that makes you hold your breath, suck in your stomach out of pure instinct, and guide it through inch by inch. πŸ˜‚
And we got through. We actually got through. Millimetres to spare and she was in.
Cue the celebration. Arms up. Big smile. Absolute scenes. πŸ˜‚
Then a sudden stop.
I turned around.
The digger blade. Too wide. Caught the wall on the way through.
The celebration lasted approximately four seconds. Four of the best seconds of my day if we are being honest. πŸ˜‚
Now look β€” no serious damage, everything is absolutely fine, and the digger is on site ready to go. But in that moment standing there looking at the wall with my arms still half raised from the celebration β€” genuinely one of the funniest things that has happened on a job in a very long time. πŸ˜‚
This is day one of the new garage build in Milehouse and we would not have it any other way.
Follow along because if day one is this entertaining the rest of this build is going to be very good content indeed. πŸ˜‚
Give this a like, tag someone who has done something similar, and follow us for every update on this build. πŸ‘‡πŸ˜‚πŸ§‘
