I recently got into a "lively debate" with a friend of Irish descent about when Spring officially starts.
After some research, it turns out that Ireland considers it to be 1st February in line with ancient Celtic traditions. Here in Portsmouth though, there are two different accepted answers:
The meteorological calendar says 1st March.
The astronomical calendar says that it's today, 21st March.
Whatever your opinion, the local wildlife certainly feels that Spring has sprung and is getting on with it's year!
