An Arts and Crafts inspired home nestled in the leafy suburbs of London. Handmade bricks laid in different soldier courses, recesses, shapes and depths provide animation and rhythm to the facade with the focus on the craft and materiality. The high pitched, clay tiled roof is punctuated with dormers which provide vaulted internal bedrooms.

A single storey extension and dormer loft extension to a 1930s semi detached London home. The ground floor is finished with Perla Vandersanden brickwork and white mortar. This extends to create a rendered band above white framed sliding doors. The first floor is k-rendered and a new dormer is finished with ‘beaver tail’ clay hanging tiles which provide playful animation to the facade.

A new-build detached home set within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The house is presented as two pitched gables, drawing on the established architectural character of the local context. A considered palette of brickwork bonds, recessed detailing and changes in depth provides texture, shadow and animation across the façade, creating a contemporary interpretation of the traditional forms found within the surrounding area.
To the rear, the design opens towards the expansive natural landscape, maximising views and establishing a strong connection between the house and its rural setting.
The project has evolved through a rigorous planning process, following an initial refusal and subsequent successful pre-application engagement with the Local Planning Authority. The pre-application proposals received strong support, providing a clear basis for the development of the design and enabling a full planning application to be progressed with confidence.

A 4m single storey kitchen extension in Potters Bar, designed to maximise storage and openness to the garden. The sliding door is full height and width with a full width skylight to the North facing property. A ‘wine wall’ provides division to a snug space, hiding a historic column. Minimal and simplicity in design to fit a modest budget.
