Another property given a fresh new look — and protected properly for the future.

This project focused on restoring the front elevation, including the porch and bay window, giving the property a clean, sharp uplift in appearance while also resolving underlying damp issues.

🔨 Work carried out:
✔️ Repointed brickwork to the full front elevation
✔️ Repointed porch and bay window
✔️ Removed internal plaster to 1m height to address rising damp
✔️ Removed old, failing DPC
✔️ Installed new damp proof course to prevent further rising damp issues

The bay window had clear signs of rising damp due to a failed DPC. Rather than just masking the problem, we removed the affected plaster and replaced the damp proof course properly to stop moisture from tracking up the walls again.

The result?
A refreshed front exterior and a long-term solution to damp complications.

The existing angle steel lintel had heavily corroded over time, which caused the brickwork above the window to sag — a common issue when old steel expands as it rusts. Left unresolved, this can lead to cracking, movement and water ingress into the property.

🔨 Work carried out:
✔️ Patch repointing to several areas of the property
✔️ Removal of the corroded steel lintel
✔️ Installation of a brand new steel lintel
✔️ Brickwork carefully reinstated and levelled above the window
✔️ Installed a cavity tray to prevent water pe*******on
✔️ Improved long-term structural support and durability

This wasn’t just a cosmetic repair — the root cause was identified and properly fixed to restore the integrity of the brickwork and protect the home for years to come.

A third of uk homes experience issues with damp but that doesn’t mean you should put up with it!

This particular property was suffering from damp caused by an out of use external chimney breast. We dropped the chimney breast and bricked up the subsequent hole in the cavity wall all in a days work and even added a feature fireplace inside too.
