🔌 Garage sockets 🔌

Here is a job we completed the other week…

The customer requested a couple of sockets within their garage for equipment they are using along with a small heater.

We decided to keep this installation separate from the existing installation… why ? We wanted the new circuit to have type ‘A’ RCD protection & surge protection.
The mains supply along with the original consumer unit was located under the stairs, therefore we managed to obtain the above whilst keeping up to regulations with a metal consumer unit.

💡Consumer unit upgrade💡

At the start of the year we were asked to carry out an electrical installation condition report (EICR) on this property.

Upon seeing the consumer unit, it appeared the RCD had been removed & therefore questions were raised.

A previous Electrican could not find/locate a fault & therefore removed the safety device (RCD) to stop nuisance tripping (and ultimately this is why we were asked to carry out the EICR).

All circuits were tested for clarity, identification & condition.
The installation was deemed as unsatisfactory & therefore a report along with a quotation was given for the rectification of the observations made.

The end result was a consumer unit change, rectification of all code 2’s and the changing of smoke alarms (of which were 25 years old).

Possibly the last full Rewire of 2024 ?
A great plasterer we know passed our number onto this customer & they really wanted a full Rewire (and rightly so)….

Upon removing accessories we found the dreaded ‘green goo’, multiple spurs & lots f hidden junction box’s (just to mention a few things).

The customers had also requested for the future provisions of circuits such as: Rear extension, side utility & potential loft conversion.

All completed & now ready for plastering, this is another happy customer & another job ticked off the list.

⏮️🔄 ✅ Rewire 2 of 3 complete ✅ 🔄⏮️

We attended to do a survey on this property & found no earth within lighting cables, 3036 rewireable consumer unit…. along with very outdated sockets & switches.
There was also 1 socket in each room (not ideal with today’s demands).
So another job where the installation was long overdue a full rewire.
Another job complete with the customers refuelling us with Coffee ☕️ & biscuits 🍪 😁.

The request on this property as it is 2x semi detached bungalows was to install a Sub Main to eventually have 1 meter.
This is all ready for the future works to be carried out.

⏮️🔄 ✅ Rewire 1 of 3 complete ✅ 🔄⏮️

We go asked to quote for some additional lights & quickly found after a quick survey that the property was long overdue a full rewire.
This job has some more time consuming areas such as the flat roof which limited access.
We were lucky on this rewire that it was plastered straight after second fix.
All went as planned whilst the customers moved out & today we handed it over all second fixed & plastered (ready for the decorating to commence)!.
A massive shout out to for the push on this one (always a pleasure to have this lad help me!).

🔵⚪️Consumer Unit Change⚪️🔵🔴

This is a recent consumer unit change we undertook.
Due to the initial pre-test/EICR we carried out we discovered a few issues & after the following we decided to upgrade:

❌Lack of RCD protection for circuits
❌ No spare ways for expansion/new circuits.
❌ High & inconsistent readings

We now have replaced this & have the following in place:

🔵 Surge Protection.
🔵 Type ‘A’ RCBO’s.
🔵 Spare Ways - For future use.
🔵 Identification of circuits.
🔵 Sealing arrangements where required - entry points.

Something A Little Different! 👀
The other week We Installed A Fully Electric Boiler & Unvented Cylinder In The Centre Of A Flat Due To A Failed Shared Chimney Duct.
This was a 12kW system boiler & due to the property being supplied by a 60A fuse, we had to fully range rate the system down to 6kW (28A).
We also added a for the opentherm controls.
Again something a little different but always a pleasure for the lads at &
This also includes a separate consumer unit for the installation with Surge protection & RCD protection for circuits installed.
