Over-ordering is waste you pay for twice.
Reinforcement bought to a rough quantity gets ordered with a margin — and that margin becomes offcuts, storage, and cost that never makes it into the structure.
We take quantities straight from the 3D model. Built to the consultant's design intent, with lap allowances accounted for, the take-off reflects what the job actually needs.
That means:

- procurement matched to modelled quantities, not padded estimates
- lap allowances included, so the order isn't inflated to be safe
- less over-ordering and offcut waste
- fewer delivery surprises as the design develops

Accurate quantities keep material on the structure and off the skip — tighter procurement, less waste, and a cleaner commercial picture from tender onwards.

BIM Level 2. Reinforcement included.

Reinforcement detailing should not be treated as an afterthought.

At Solve Structural Design, we deliver reinforcement to the same coordinated standard as the rest of the model — helping teams reduce clashes, improve buildability and keep project information clear from design through to site.

Federated. Compliant. Coordinated.

Timber is becoming a bigger part of modern construction, but it still requires considered structural engineering behind it.

Load paths, lateral stability, connections and buildability all need to be assessed early to help keep projects moving in the right direction.

If you’re working on a timber frame project and need clear structural input, get in touch with Solve Structural Design.

We’re currently on a job in Cheshire, with works now right in the middle of the reinforced concrete raft foundation stage.

A large-scale foundation like this needs careful planning, coordination and structural detail before it reaches site — and it’s great to see the project moving forward.

More updates and site photos to come as the job progresses.

Timber frame stability, modelled with greater accuracy.

Solve Structural Design can now deliver lateral stability design and analysis for timber frame structures using RFEM, with CFD-derived wind loading applied directly to the model.

This gives a clearer understanding of wind behaviour, load paths and lateral stability before the project reaches site.

A practical step forward for timber frame design, coordination and buildability.

Within 3% of the final detailed scheme.

Our 3D rebar quantification approach delivers reliable tonnage estimates for tenders and fixed-price contracts — modelled against the main consultant's design intent, with allowances for laps built in.

Reliable quantities support better commercial decisions, tighter procurement, and cleaner pre-construction planning.

Accurate estimates. Better decisions. Reduced risk.

The biggest sustainability gains come from decisions made before site work begins.

By the time reinforcement reaches site, the major levers — material use, buildability, programme certainty — are already set. Resolving complexity earlier keeps those decisions in the design office, where changes are still cheap.

Modelling reinforcement in 3D before fabrication allows quantities to be sharpened, clashes resolved, and buildability tested in advance. The result is less waste, fewer adjustments later in the programme, and a smoother path from model to site.

3D reinforcement modelling helps resolve complexity before it reaches site.

By modelling reinforcement in 3D, teams can review congested areas earlier, identify clashes, and improve buildability before fabrication or installation begins.

For contractors, engineers and site teams, that means clearer coordination, fewer issues, and more confidence on site.

Planned before site. Resolved before install.

Project Aleph — 9.5-ton column cages planned in 3D before reaching site.

Following on from our previous Project Aleph post, this updated site image shows one of the prefabricated column cages being lifted into position.

Each cage weighs around 9.5 tons, so early coordination was essential. By developing the reinforcement in a detailed 3D model first, the team were able to review congestion, understand the buildability, and support a smoother transition from modelling through to fabrication and site installation.

The cages were prefabricated off-site before being delivered and installed on site — a strong example of how model-led reinforcement detailing can improve clarity before work reaches the ground.

Prefabricated off-site. Planned in 3D. Installed on site.
