Castle Ring Oak Frame specialize in the design and construction of traditional timber framed structures. Please feel free to contact us regarding any aspect of timber framing be it a simple log store, garage, garden room/office to a dramatic self build or barn room extension. We are a small, family run business based near the Welsh Border town of Presteigne where we have built a reputation for pro

ducing beautiful and unique structures through a personal and flexible collaboration with our clients. Gratifyingly, much of our work comes to us via word of mouth. We are lucky enough to work from home at Castle Ring in a new purpose built douglas fir timber framed workshop complete with impressive king post trusses, lifting gantry, plentiful natural light, and powered by a solar PV electrical system. You are more than welcome to visit us (by appointment please, so we can tidy up beforehand!) to take a look at first hand at our award winning oak and larch framed eco house. This will give you the chance to see the quality of our work, and to get a sense of our style and ethos. All set up and ready for tomorrow’s OPEN DAY Exhibition at Whitney Sawmills.
Friday 12 June - Whitney on Wye, Herefordshire HR4 6EZ. We are exhibiting at this one-day event organised by Woodland Heritage and Whitney Sawmills - part of a new initiative launched by Woodland Heritage called Open Woods & Workshops.

The day offers a great opportunity to visit a specialist sawmill and see first-hand how high-quality, homegrown timber is processed for use as furniture and oak and Douglas fir timber-framed buildings such as ours.

The open day offers a look at the vital link between our woodlands and the timber used every day. You can book a sawmill tour, meet the Woodland Heritage and Whitney Sawmills team and exhibitors, including Castle Ring Oak Frame, to see what the timber is used for.

Plus Origin Pizza and Outlaws Coffee.

This Friday, our own Whitney Sawmills opens for a behind-the-scenes look at a working sawmill, along with an exhibition of makers, woodland tours and the Origin Pizza van.

A working sawmill is a fascinating place - you'll get chance to get behind-the-scenes look at how UK timber is processed and explore the remarkable range of homegrown wood the mill supplies.

Paired with a guided walk through Aconbury Wood with the Duchy of Cornwall, it's a brilliant day out!

Open Woods & Workshops is part of the Woodland Heritage Skills project and is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, we have been able to conserve and promote sustainable productive woodland management skills in the UK.
