We may be heading towards Christmas, but our technical team is still on hand to help with any queries on liquid-applied roofing. 🧠

So, here they are to share some Wednesday Wisdom and answer another common question we get asked by our customers.

❓ Today’s question is about roof preparation: ‘Will my roof require stripping?’

Here’s our reply…

Condition dependent, Centaur systems can be used to overlay a wide variety of existing membranes.

However, if the roof is structurally compromised or retaining significant levels of moisture, then you may need to strip back to a viable substrate before commencing with the works.

If this is the case, it will be identified at the initial survey, and a comprehensive specification will also be provided by us to explain the options, meaning there should be no unexpected surprises.

If your roof is already coated with a Centaur Technologies’ roofing system that’s at end of its life, then the roof can be treated with another unreinforced coat of Centaur PU to extend its life span by a further 10 years.

Did you know that Centech APA can be used to protect metal roofs, helping to shield them from corrosion?

And as the weather closes in, it is reassuring to know that Centech APA has an accelerated curing rate allowing it to be overcoated quicker than other alternatives, and this project at the chief office of a bank in Scotland shows just how bang on the money this product is – not just at weatherproofing a roof, but making it look fabulous too! 💷

Our rapid-curing Centech APA was used to re-coat this 1200m2 roof and give it a smart grey finish to complement the rest of the building. Allowing for super quick installation, it achieved a high-quality finish with minimal disruption to staff during the works. 🙂

Centaur training day 👷

Last week we welcomed a selection of experienced contractors into our all new factory to take part in one of our Centaur training days.

The day consisted of a mixture of theory and practical training delivered by our highly skilled technical and field team. had the pleasure of working on this historic Railway Station which was originally built in 1867 🚂💧
