Self destructing ash tree.

There was around 5 inch of solid wood left. It had been pollarded around 15 years ago which definitely gave the tree a few more years, unfortunately after shedding a limb it was time for it to come down.

Milling the ash stem that our last post shows finished. Definitely need to make use of the “winch” on the mill.

Although not perfect for every project, chainsaw mills are sometimes the best option. In this case a nice bit of Ash was saved from the firewood pile, where it would have been uneconomical and impractical to use any other type of mill.

7 nice clean boards in total, 3 cuts at 4 inches and 4 at 3 inches. This was done in around 2 hours (including removing the mill and swapping a chain over after hitting embedded metal).

All the boards passed inspection by our self-appointed assistant branch manager Merlin.

Nath chunking out the the last stem of the day.

Road on one side house on the other. Not a problem for our skilled team, we lowered all the stem and larger branches. This removed any potential risk to the surroundings, whilst keeping the sections larger for ease of loading.

Not all of our waste is processed to firewood, this Cedar stem was milled into boards. Two of the boards had a bit of rot running through but are still usable once cut down.

We also offer onsite chainsaw milling with a mill capacity up to 42inch or 106cm and made to order boards.

.093 smooth hands lowing the final two sections from an oak pollard we did prior to Christmas for , this was part of a of larger job working on over 20 trees identified on a tree survey that were deemed to be hazardous.
