Honestly this made my day. A client contacted me back in May last year about pruning their apple tree which was in much need of maintenance - lots of epicormic growth from the crown with canker on many of the limbs.

Thankfully they took my advice and waited until January this year to have the work done while the tree was dormant.

Fast forward to today... have you ever seen such luscious apples! 🤩🤩🤩

Raised beds filled with cosmos and a few hanging baskets lined and filled with some lasting colour for the big day.

Today we said an emotional goodbye to Milo. He was 16 years old and passed away peacefully this morning at home surrounded by loved ones.

Thank you to all of you for allowing Milo to potter and wander in your gardens, it really meant a lot both to him and us! He always enjoyed going to different sites and was more than happy to chill out while we cracked on 🙂👍

Some much needed maintenance completed at Catherine Beckett Community Centre and Childsplay Day Nursery.

All species were meticulously checked for both the presence of birds and nests. Checks were performed over multiple visits with works commencing only when we were 100% certain no birds were present.

The line of hawthorn, holly and sycamore hedge between the carpark and the park has been INTENTIONALLY left untouched due to the presence of birds (last pic). This section will be addressed once we are satisfied birds have fledged and are no longer using the hedge as habitat.

A last minute request to establish a maintainable level of the garden in preparation for a party. Due to the limited time and the heat, we elected to complete the work over two visits to maximise the recovery of the lawn and prevent scorching.

Visit 1:
• Strimming top level
• High height cutting with waste bagged
• Application of liquid seaweed

Visit 2:
• Final cut to maintenance height
• Pre-watering with wetting agent
• Application of chelated iron and soluble lawn feed.

In total, 14 full bags of waste came off this. To reduce cost, a composting bay made from pallets was constructed to save the client unnecessary waste disposal fees.

A nice trimming session from yesterday. All species were meticulously checked for nesting birds.

To be on the safe side I opted for manual loppers where necessary instead of a saw. All hedge trimming equipment used was battery powered, with each tool on their eco setting to minimise noise.

If you are interested in trimming or shaping work, one helpful tip is to download the 'Merlin' app on your phone and set it to record. The app will identify birds in the area for you. Gives you an idea whether birds are indeed nesting before you manually check.
