It is with great sadness and John’s families permission that we share the news of John’s passing.

Our thoughts & condolences are with his friends and loved ones at this difficult time.

Over the many, many years (30 year’s plus!) many of our present and former colleagues will of had the absolute pleasure of working alongside John at Kiernan Construction Limited
and later on with our sister company Rowan Scrap Metals Ltd

John will be remembered so very fondly by us all, a gentleman, the legend!, loyal, generous, his outstanding work ethic and expertise had many a Manager fighting to have John on their particular site.

I will personally always remember his patience, as a young green person coming into construction there was little John didn’t know or have experienced, he would happily spend time sharing that wealth of knowledge with you. Not once would you ever feel stupid asking his advice.

John you were so much more than a colleague, you were such a dear friend to so many of us and you will be so sadly missed.

John passed away peacefully on 20th July 2026 aged 76 years, surrounded by his loved ones after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer.

He will be loved and remembered forever for being the most kind and courageous man and a great friend to many.

He was a beloved husband to Norma, loved dad to Sharon and Steven, Father-in-Law to Ian, and devoted grandad to Eva, Ella, Sean, Daniel, and Aidan.

Requiem Mass at St Teresas RC Church, Penwortham on Thursday 6th August 2026 at 10am.

PATRICK KIERNAN
June and family wish to send their heartfelt thanks to everyone for their support, their kind words, messages, calls, cards, beautiful flowers and generous donations to St. Catherine's Hospice, received during our sad loss.
We were overwhelmed and incredibly grateful to the number of people who attended Patrick's funeral service. Our sincere thanks to Canon Doyle for his support, kindness and his words during the service, which gave peace to us all.
Thank you to the Bloom Room for the stunning spray and to Helen, Mary and all of Alston Lane flower arrangers for doing us proud.
Thank you to The Cross Keys management and all your staff for achieving the impossible in your superb hospitality.
Finally, our sincere thanks to Nick Houghton and his staff for the exceptional care, compassion and huge support shown to us at this difficult time.

As some of you are aware, there are just not enough words. 💔

The family wish to thank our incredible Kiernan Construction Limited ‘family’ who have shown incredible strength & support over the last few days. He would have been truly humbled but incredibly proud at how you have all rallied around during this difficult time and kept operations flowing despite being in complete disbelief yourselves.

To all that have contacted us your messages and calls have been of massive comfort.

Patrick’s leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment have left a lasting legacy and he will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

Who died suddenly at home on Sunday 5th July, aged 80 years.

The beloved husband of June, dearly loved father of Siobhan, Patrick, John and Joanne and a much loved grandad and great grandad.
