Stuart Baird retires as a Partner at JYM

We are saddened to share that Stuart Baird will be retiring as a Partner of the practice on 31 March 2026.

Stuart has been a valued member of JYM for 28 years, playing a key role in our growth and success. While he is stepping back from his Partner role, he will continue to support us as a consultant, so we are pleased that he won’t be disappearing entirely.

Stuart now plans to enjoy more time travelling and perfecting his golf game, and we wish him every happiness in this next chapter.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to him for his friendship, dedication, and many contributions over the years.

We have lots to shout about at JYM Partnership, in November we successfully completed our ISO audits for ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001.

As well as achieving our ISO accreditations for another year we also retained the Investors in People Standard.

Phase 1 Structural Repairs Completed at Majestic Apartments, Lytham St Annes

JYM have recently certified completion on an initial Phase of Structural Façade Repairs to Majestic Apartments building in Lytham St Annes. This milestone marks a significant step in our ongoing commitment to assisting the Management Company of this prominent Apartment Block repair the building to ensure that it is structurally safe for years to come.

Phase 1 was designed as a test / exploratory phase and included around 25% of the front elevation. Key works included:
• Demolition of the external brickwork leaf and comprehensive inspection and assessment of existing structural elements
• Targeted repairs to address embedded steel corrosion and concrete defects.
• Replacement of wall ties and cavity trays
• Replacement of outer leaf masonry with durable bricks including glazed brickwork for aesthetic interest
• Refurbishment of balconies including replacement of balustrade with modern looking steel and glass system

With Phase 1 now complete, planning for Phase 2 is already underway with a start planned for spring 2026. This next stage will continue our efforts to repair the building and improve its long-term resilience.

Radon Monitoring: Safeguarding Your Building Occupants

At JYM Partnership, we know effective building management includes protecting the health and wellbeing of occupants. One often-overlooked hazard is radon gas, a naturally occurring, colourless, and odourless radioactive gas that can seep into buildings from the ground. Prolonged exposure to high radon levels increases the risk of lung cancer and the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) require employers and those responsible for premises to monitor and manage this risk.
