A reactive callout for a major international fast-food chain quickly became something much bigger.
Following a recent attendance, our engineers identified a significant Health & Safety issue hidden within a suspended ceiling.
Sections of cable tray had been inadequately supported and, more concerningly, parts of the suspended ceiling appeared to have been supported from the cable tray system itself rather than independently from the main structure above.
With services hanging under additional load, disconnected ducting and a pressurised sprinkler system within the affected area, this wasn't something that could simply be patched up and signed off.
Our team carried out the immediate works possible to reduce the risk, including removing additional Unistrut loading and securing the fallen vent, but our recommendation was clear:
The area should remain closed until it has been properly assessed and made structurally safe.
Reactive maintenance isn't always about getting a site open again as quickly as possible. Sometimes it's about recognising when the safest decision is to stop, report the issue properly and put a permanent solution in place.
That's exactly what we're here for.
