Having worked in the stonemasonry industry for the past nineteen years Paul took the opportunity of a mutually agreeable redundancy from his previous employer, 'Canterbury Stone and Marble', to combine a passion for working with natural stone and meeting new people. As a result, in August 2010 Granite Worktop Solutions was born, originally with the idea to offer an annual cleaning and re-sealing
service to previous customers with granite worktops. This quickly grew to include refurbishment of all types of stone flooring, marble bathrooms, fireplaces and most recently Staron and Corian solid surface worktops. In April 2011 we took on a larger workshop to enable the manufacture of various natural stone products we were requested to supply. Including marble vanity tops, granite worktops, polishing of concrete blocks for an indoor swiiming pool, Italian black riven slate panels to clad a reception desk and shelves in man-made quartz to name but a few. We now offer a complete templating,supply and fitting service should it be required. Pauls background in the industry goes way back to the early 90's when he made a career change from the motor trade to stonemasonry, learning the basics working in the production yard of 'The Fireplace and Stone Centre' in Birchington for a number of years where he learnt how to cut and polish many types of natural stones used in the manufacture of fireplaces, kitchen worktops and marble bathrooms. Eventually taking over the day to day running of the workshops before the unexpected departure of a colleague gave him the opportunity to take over the estimating role within 'Canterbury Stone and Marble'. Where his duties included the ordering of marble and granite slabs for various projects, tools and consumables for the workshops and health and safety for the company to name but a few. Paul often describes working with natural stone as a very addictive occupation and since setting up Granite Worktop Solutions his addiction appears to have become worse!
