The UK is absolutely sizzling right now, and if your van's air conditioning isn't up to scratch, your mobile office probably feels more like a mobile oven.
Sitting in traffic when it's 30°C+ outside isn't just uncomfortable, it's exhausting. To help you get through the working week without melting, here is our quick Van Heatwave Survival Guide:
🔄 The 180° Steering Wheel Trick: When parking up on a job, turn your steering wheel upside down. That way, the top of the wheel stays in the shade, and you won't burn your hands when it's time to drive off.
🔋 Protect Your Tools: Extreme cabin temperatures can permanently damage the lithium-ion batteries in your cordless power tools. Keep your toolboxes on the floor or under the seats out of direct sunlight.
💧 Watch the Fluids: Your van is working twice as hard in this heat. Take two minutes before your morning shift to check your engine coolant and oil levels, it could save you a long, hot wait on the hard shoulder for a recovery truck.
☀️ The "Dash" Shield: If you don't have a windscreen sunshade, throw a light coloured towel over the dashboard when parked. It stops the dark plastic from absorbing heat and radiating it back into the cabin all day.
