We have been busy at EMS ELECTRICAL today fitting this stunning Chandelier for one of our customers.
Weighing in at 85kg we carefully fitted each individual piece of glass.
We reinforced the ceiling by installing timber between the joists to support the weight. The chandelier consists of 18 dimmable lamps.

Closing the week on a very high note

EMS Electrical business has been always about customer service and built on positive feedback.

It doesn´t matter what sort of work.

Sometimes is an electrical emergency or something no one really wants to do.

Also sometime is our dream job.

Taking a group of guys to into someone’s home or premises to dismantle every part of it, on a time scale, it could be daunting, even more when you want to deliver a high standard services

How much a New Consumer unit cost

As electrical contractor in Reading this is one of the questions we are asked on daily basis, and obviously there is no one single answer, and also it will depend on many factors.

However as electricians in Reading we always encourage the customer to have an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), which should be carried out before replacing the consumer unit.

This is to establish that the latest regulations are met and will ensure the conditions of the whole installation.

In general if you have decided to replace a consumer your consumer unit there are 4 main factors to consider

• Number of circuits required
• Type of consumer unit
• Phases
• Application
• Amperage Rating

Also, to provide a proper estimate to install a new fuse board or consumer whether it is for a house or an office – you have to factor in the labour, materials and cost of testing.
Cost of labour will depend how long it takes to install, and basically this will depend on the location of the fuse board (most of the time are tricky ones).

On average, consumer unit replacement cost (including all materials, labour and certification) can be between £590 and £750. This is assuming there is an ideal scenario with no additional problems that need fixing. It will take over half a day to install, including testing the unit, also will depends of the number of circuits.

❓Why you should use a qualified electrician or electrical contractor:

If you’re not a competent person about electrical installations and wiring, I would highly recommend not to tackle any electrical works on your own.

This may sounds obvious but you would be surprised about how many times we get asked to check DIY work, in both Domestic and Commercial.

You tube is great, but people think that they can do all by watching videos, but this is not definitely the case with electrical works! You must use a qualified electrician to carry out all installations and repairs for both residential or commercial electrical works.
