A collaboration between MyDek and Sapphire Balconies made London Dock a 'Wapping' success! 🏢

Close to iconic landmarks like St Katharine Docks and famous sites such as The Prospect of Whitby and To***co Dock, this development offers city living with moments of tranquillity - this addition to London Dock brings 1,800 high-end residences with Sapphire's unique balconies and MyDek's Vista decking.

Here are three key takeaways from our article, featured in the latest issue of Insight Magazine:
🏢 The sloped façade and limited access at London Dock C1 posed unique challenges for installation.
🏢 Extra care was taken to protect the on-site water garden and distinctive water features during the installation process.
🏢 The Glide-On balconies and counterbalance system allowed for top-down installation, and the use of a crane and unitised façade by Martifer facilitated the process, ensuring protection of the water feature and effective fitting of balcony arms.

During our conversation with Chris Waterman, he highlighted the urgent need for a building safety template within the construction industry. 🦺

Despite the establishment of the new Building Safety Regulator, a standardized template has yet to be released. This has resulted in a significant challenge for civil servants who are now faced with managing thousands of unindexed and non-standardized documents.

Chris expressed his belief that a 5-year catch-up period for addressing outstanding cases is a gross underestimate. Without a template in place, the process of resolving building safety issues will be significantly prolonged, leading to increased costs for all involved parties. It is clear that the absence of a template is a critical issue that needs to be addressed promptly in order to streamline the building safety process.
