I painted the lower bar of the Swan pub in the village. Loads of cutting in but really enjoyed working here, brought back memories of friends, great nights and lost weekends.
The staff were great and Anna the manager was fantastic allowing me to section off great chunks of the space so i could work through the day instead of 'ghosting'... is that term used anymore?

Diane and Ian's fascia had collapsed slightly, we'll forgive this though as, up until recently, it's - the fascia- been doing a sublime job for over a hundred years.
I removed the tiles, stacking them, i thought, in order. Ian used his immense logic and numbered each tile which was far superior to me trying to remember which stack of tiles were the next to re install!
I re installed the fascia in its correct place having brought some new wood into play for it to attach to.
And then the tiles...
It was a bit chaotic as the old lime cement mix was in effect as useful as an ashtray on a radiator, or is that a radiator on a motorbike?!! So, more tiles kept slipping as i was in the process of re fitting with fresh lime mortar.
Much rain and a little swearing later I got the job done.
Lime, sharp and building sand, mixed, is a proper old school way of going about things but hey, old school is the best sKool as they say!
A very satisfying end, although i told Ian that i've developed a phobia of curvey old tiles cemented at an acute angle!

I made Pat and Terry something that they can sit and take their wellies and footwear off on, hang coats and stash the dogs leads.
Pat sketched me her idea, i then took her plan and intricately drew it with the stub of an HB pencil on the back of a cigarette packet!
I made it out of American white oak which is kiln dried and so dense in comparison to softwoods (I'm never sure if I should use capitals [White Oak] when naming something but hey ho, this is my fault for skiving school with my mate Andy, smoking and listening to Led Zeppelin instead). The backing is 110mm tongue and groove. I had to make it so that the top part comes off because Louis (my son) and I would never have shoe horned it through the doors.
Finished with a poly, gloss varnish to bring out the grain. It smells amazing... looks alright too I reckon !

A newly painted front door (especially one painted by my own madly talented hand :-)), is given a new lease of life and can make the place pop.
I paint all types of doors even the odd garage door and there are now so many fantastic colour ranges, coming out of the big paint companies as well as the eco friendly cottage businesses that you are bound to find the colour and finish you like.
Deep blues and greys in a satin finish though, wow.

Hello folks.
A quick word from me to say that I'm returning to work next week (4th September 23) and am booking in work from that date onwards.
My knee replacement has been a relative success but I'm still in recovery so there will not be any high ladder work or heavy graft as i want my new bionic leg (!) to last as long as possible and so am working on the muscle and movement daily.
My telephone number is 07888680834
My email is [email protected]
Looking forward to seeing you.

Painted all the woodwork (windows, doors, fascia, soffit) at Terry and Pat's place... this was during the amazing heatwave we had last year...didn't one or two of those days pass 40°?
Painted the lamp posts with black hammerite.
I was there so long that I bet they thought I was going for squatters rights!

The outbuilding of David Egypt's place... not his real surname, funny how a nickname comes about. He's fully aware of his made up monicker and hey, you don't want to know what he calls me!
This place kind of gets a beating being under such a heavy canopy of trees but Toupret crack filler with resin, a 2 inch filling blade, 1 audiobook and a little patience flattened the walls again.
Johnstones smooth masonry paint in white (i try to avoid buying 'brilliant' white as it is kind of over white and not as warm)
Anyways yeah, it looks all cleaned up and man i would love to have it as a writing/music place.
I love jobs like this.

I refurbed the picture framer/art gallery in Caversham last year (i know, i rarely post on here these days, too busy I guess).
Painted the shop front (the blue bit is the awning which was replaced a little later)
Painted the walls with magnetic paint...yes, it's a thing and not a lost mission for an apprentice like stripey paint or a sky hook! It works amazingly well.
Ceilings painted in a slightly off white.
I laid the floor with engineered oak.
The finish looks great and should you need your pictures framed go to Caversham Picture Framers. You might even pick up a nice piece of art for your place.

The woodwork on this lovely old gaff needed a lot of tlc to bring back up to good condition. I'll probably go back next spring and schlepp a few more coats on because the wood was very dry and bare. Having said that, everything you see is original from construction so the wood is incredibly tough being slow grown.
Thankfully we preserve our ancient woodland now.
Beautiful though and a pleasure to work on.
Plus gratuitous shot of my van with the great branding by Laurence Williams should you need anything arty like this doing.
