One flagship. Four floors. Zero room for error.
We’re proud to share our work on the new ZARA flagship at 333 Oxford Street / New Bond Street, which opened on programme in June.
Screed Works delivered the specialist floor screed package across the store: more than 4,300m² over the basement, ground, Level 1 and Level 2, plus additional works on Level 3.
The spec came from Spain, so the first job was technical. We worked with the Weber / Saint-Gobain team to match every product in the Spanish specification to a UK-available equivalent before a single bag was mixed. The final build-up was, but not limited to:
Weberfloor DPM Pro epoxy membrane
Heavy-duty mesh reinforcement
PIR Insulation
ARDEX UK A38 Screed
Weberfloors 4360 rapid base
Weberfloor 4630, a polishable wearing screed designed to be the finished floor
Logistics in the West End were a project in themselves. Materials came in by rigid trucks from Spain and the UK. Most deliveries landed between 2 and 3am, and we worked floor by floor, with night and double shifts, to keep pace with a demanding retail programme.
Once the screed was down, our partners at AVANTGARDE TILING LIMITED took over. They ground and polished the floors to Zara’s chosen finish: high-sheen, exposed aggregate, satin and sealed. They also cast and polished around 800 linear metres of bespoke skirting in their workshop.
A huge thank you to our site team, to Weber for the technical and delivery support, and to Barbara Zanasi MCIOB, BSc (HONS), , Adrian and the Avantgarde team. When two specialists plan the sequence together from day one, you get a seamless floor.
If you’ve got a high-spec retail or commercial floor coming up, let’s talk.
