Today we have a job in our grainstore - loading , weighing and tipping 2026 wheat into our grain bins to load overhead directly into our milling machine , we’re milling today for Regilbury farm and hauling it up to there once loaded , dusty old job but it has to be done , any milling requirements or any contracting needs please get in touch on 01934-863000

Today on the 12th of August our maize season starts in Langford beating last years 27th of August - it was our first crop drilled in April and first crop to come off - with a new set of maize blades and new maize shear bar fitted yesterday and our 12 row claas orbis header doing what it does best - hardly dropping any cobs , which is what we are aiming for and to do the best job possible for our customers , any maize harvesting or any contracting needs please get in touch on 01934 863000

*** Parking for Wayne Sparkes Funeral ***
On Thursday 23rd July anyone attending Wayne’s funeral please follow signs to Yew Tree Farm BS21 6XG where you can park.
There will be transport from the farm to the church and back too.
The funeral is at 12pm and we are anticipating a lot of people so please park in the designated parking places so as not to obstruct traffic. There will be lots of people to help direct anyone not sure where they need to be.
Wayne will be arriving on a tractor and trailer so we want to make sure everyone parks sensibly so we can get him to the church on time.
For those attending the crematorium, parking is separate please follow the appropriate signs.
Wayne chose to keep the crematorium service private with attendance limited to those who have been personally invited.
We Thankyou for respecting his wishes at this time 💔💙

Good evening - the last 18 months here at Alvis Contracting have been very sad and really quite tough ,
our dear friend and colleague of over 20 years - Wayne Sparkes was diagnosed with a brain tumour which in true Sparkes fashion he faced head on and fought it with strength and dignity -
as those of you who knew Wayne will know he didn’t give up on anything easily and was as stubborn as a mule , Wayne was not only a big man , he had a big laugh and most of all a big heart ,he would of quite literally done anything for anyone ,
but unfortunately this was one battle that Wayne couldn’t win and he passed away on Sunday 28th of June at home with his loving wife Zoe and his family who he loved very dearly ,
his funeral will be on Thursday .July 23rd at 12 pm All saints church Kingston Seymour , then a private cremation will be held afterwards , the celebration of Wayne’s life will be held at Richard and Anita Simmons yew tree farm afterwards where we can all raise a glass and have a chat about what a great man and friend Wayne was , thank you for all your years of dedication and hard work and for being a great all rounder , the yard will never be the same without you - keep an eye on us all from up there and make sure we’re all doing it right !! -

The Start of our wholecrop season today with Craig out on the 870 with the 6 metre header chopping 70 acres of wheat on the dundry hills , 14 trailers on a long haul back across the mendips , lovely day for it now the suns shining ☀️
